My husband would say the same thing, since he has to live with me while I'm loosing my mind. This last time when I got off the med, I felt so much better it was like taking a med that actually worked. So in that regard, I guess it does work! Ha ha. Its like I have to take them every 5 years to realize all over again why I don't take them. Sheesh. I have never had any success with any antidepressant type pills. The first disaster was Amitriptyline, back in the olden days. I took Amitriptyline for two months; gained 40 pounds and had horrible nightmares, night after night. It did nothing for the pain. The nightmares quit as soon as I quit taking the Amitriptyline. Fortunately the weight came off fairly easily too. I've had several other antidepressant disasters since that time. Effexor was one very bad idea. I even tried Pristiq when it first came out. About 24 hours after the first pill, I felt like I was about ready to crawl out of my skin. That was last year. Good thing the doctor got me it in a trial amount. I'd have been pretty ticked if either the insurance company or myself had ponied up major bucks for it. That stuff is even more expensive than Effexor. The side effects of some of those pills are a lot worse than the diseases they're supposed to help. When they work well, they're great, but when they mess with ya, they can really mess with ya. Ack!! Lyndi
Guest guest
Luckily, I have had great success with Wellbutrin. Nightmares at first, but they went away after a couple weeks. No weight gain. Also on Effexor, which helps with anxiety also. Every one of us is so different, I'm just grateful they work for me or I'd be a huge mess! > The side effects of some of those pills are a lot worse than the > diseases they're supposed to help.
