Guest guest
has worn swim molds made at the same time as her hearing aid molds for the last couple of years. ENT has not wanted her to get water in her ears whilst she has grommets (tubes). In addition she worn plugs bought from a chemist. Guest guest
, I'm not sure exactly why, but I think it's something about the eustachan tubes not working properly (I could be wrong, though) and I know it's VERY common to have to wear earplugs, etc for that reason. I would try a pair of ear plugs and see how it goes or talk to an audiologist about getting a good set of hearing aid molds for swimming. Home: lisaweir@... Work: lisa.weir@... Guest guest
- We use ear plugs for swim as well as showering. We get them from the ENT,but they are available elsewhere. They are called DOC'S PROPLUGS and they come in different sizes-surf shops carry them. My non-CHARGE daughter always gets swimmer ears-so she uses silicone plugs and after swim drops... Guest guest
i think they do have special ear plugs for people who swim and are prone to ear infections -- i use silicon ones but you ahve to be super careful with them, cause they can damage your ear if you use them wrong so i'd ask a dr. Guest guest
On swimmer's ear. Dylan very rarely expresses any pain. He had swimmer's ear and he HURT! I have a picture of him at school lying in the little pool with pinto beans, one arm all wrapped in and out of his shirt and the other pressed firmly against his ear, and he had such a sad face. A week out of the pool and ear drops took care of it. It is basically an infection of the outer ear. If you have not had it before go to the doctor. They can diagnose it and write a RX for the drops, which you can then use other times as well. You could then address the ear plug issue as well. Guest guest
, Patty wears ear molds. She likes the type she form to the canal the best. The molds they made for her sometimes let water in if it moved just a little. She also wears a head band called " Ear Band-It " You can google it to see. Patty also wears the mold in the shower by the way. Bonnie, mom to a 22, Patty CHARGE 20, and wife to
