Guest guest
I don't know of a test, but after a DTaP my son's head went from normal sized to oversized. I asked his neuro if he saw anything on his MRI. No, but " that happened a long tome ago. " > > Hi everyone, > > > Is there a specific test for brain inflammation? Guest guest
I have a student whose head is noticibly larger than usual. He is non-verbal, but smart, a quick learner, giddy happy, smiles most of the time, makes unbearable high pitched sounds and repetitive noises a lot. Looks sideways in either direction at least 50% of the time. He would have us rub his head hard all day if we would comply. We have looked up osteo-cranial therapy, but it involves light touch. This kid wants his head rubbed hard. I feel he must have inflamation. I have tried for two years to get his mother to look into vitamin a or vision therapy for the sideways glancing. She feels he is " thinking, picturing it in his head " when he does this. She took him to a regular eye doctor, and of course he couldn't be tested. I have a feeling her pediatrician is telling her I am just full of crap. Most of the time, I don't begrudge any parent their choices because I feel it is not clear what is going on, and it is so hard. Besides, their guess is really as good as mine. This lady I want to shake and say, don't you see he is sick and he could get better? Your pediatrician can't help you and doesn't want to because that would show this autism thing is medical. Then he would have 1 in a 100 boys to start treating for possible vaccine damage. In this case, my heart breaks for him because I can't ignore the size of his head, the fact that he wants pressure on it, and the sideways glancing coupled withg the fact he can look at a group of coins and write down the value, add and subtract double digits, and sign and compose lots of sentences on his dynavox. He is smart in there, and his head should not be that huge. > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > Is there a specific test for brain inflammation? Guest guest
Some docs do the Anne Connolly (blood) test that indicates when the child's body is creating anti-bodies to his brain. > > just got off the phone with a phone consult with our autism expert. Guest guest
I remember the same thing with my son too. I felt that suddenly his head was bigger - because I couldn't fit his shirts through his head (new shirts for his size, even slightly bigger ones). He didn't gain any weight - infact the ped. was concerned about his weight loss. It was after a round of vaccinations around 20 months I think. I am not sure which one - he got a bunch at that time - I will check his records to see if he has DTap at that time. - Angay > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > Is there a specific test for brain inflammation? Guest guest
My younger son, age 4 1/2 has a brain in the 98-100% size (he is otherwise very small). An mri showed mini-stroke and focal area brain abnormalities. Nothing was said about possible brain inflammation. Would this be considered the same thing, or is there a different test for brain inflammation? Guest guest
, That is so nice of you trying to help him and have concerns for him - I wish his mother would pay attention and get him the right treatment. - Angay > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > > > > Is there a specific test for brain inflammation? Guest guest
The Ann Connoly test (not sure if I spelled this right) shows inflammation in the brain. It's a blood test. Dr. Rossignol ordered it for my son. If it shows inflammation he might try steroids, but for now he put him on a supplement called Pycnogenol which is supposed to help with inflammation. You probably have to have a DAN order that test. Other docs don't believe inflammation exists. But he would be open to treating viruses as well if need be. I don't think a doctor should be one or the other - virus or inflammation.  Good evening, all,We did the Anne Connelly test and had IGM autostaining present. So with this information, what are my options for treatments?I showed this to my DAN doctor. He had no options for me. Guest guest
Jerry - Dr. Rossignol likes spironlactone. You could ask Rao for a script. > > > Good evening, all, > > We did the Anne Connelly test and had IGM autostaining present. Guest guest
Good morning, all, Thank you. We did Pycnogenol and did see some improvements. I will look into spironlactone also. What is the recommended time to be on either Pycnogenol or spironlactone before retesting? 1 month then retest? 3 months then retest? Great information. Thank you. Guest guest
You need to see if you get improvements. When we first started spironolactone we saw some increased toy play but the constipation was too much and we stopped it. > > > > Jerry - Dr. Rossignol likes spironlactone. Guest guest
I meant to say it will probably take more than spironolactone to reverse the Anne Connolly findings. > > > > > > Jerry - Dr. Rossignol likes spironlactone. Guest guest
We were recommended Spironolactone after our Anne Connolly came back positive for IgM. Also, if your kid is a " tough nut " you may want to rule out Seizures via EEG or Spect. Guest guest
My son has the same issue (probably most ASD kids do). We have taken my son to Payne and he is showing amazing progress! has come up with a specific protocol.... Im quoting from his newsletter: " ..For years we have focused on the gut-brain connection, methylation and chelation as the primary treatment. While useful, it seemed as if it was only part of the puzzle. In a recent study we noted that the Brain is the super observer of the immune system, regulating detoxification through the intercellular matrix. What if we been missing this? Just maybe, it is the Brain and Brain-Gut Connection that needs to be addressed first and not relegated to an afterthought by giving Enhansa or Spirolatone. I have observed that a systematic approach to Brain Connectivity and Cell signaling Enhancement could be key for many of our complex cases and would improved clinical outcomes for the non-responder and responder alike. A culmination of ten years of work, The Solamar Intensive is a brain center program that reduces inflammation and resets communication between the endocrine, immune and neurological systems. A proprietary blend of Core Homeopathics, Cognitive Nutrition, Gentle Biofilm and Advanced Peptide treatment " You can find him here: http://startlivingwelltoday.com/
