Guest guest
Okay, this one is so " good " I just had to share. Nada just called me up practically in hysterics. Why? She had to call and tell me that her friend's daughter of about my age had just died of a stroke and how terrible she felt and was horrified at the thought that the same could happen to me! She wanted me to promise I wouldn't let anything happen to me because she just wouldn't be able to stand it if it did! Well, gee, mom, I'll try not to, uh, die, okay??? The same crap as over 20 years ago when I really wasn't so sure if I could promise that! This time it didn't hurt or make me angry - I just thought it was ridiculous. Funny thing is, just because of this scenario, and knowing she would drive me bonkers - she still does not know I currently have a different cancer. This one's incurable and rare, but treatable. Because it's slow-progressing, it's manageable, and I still don't plan on going anywhere before my time! But, um, I'm supposed to avoid stress, if possible. Suuuuurrrrrre! Guest guest
I love they hysterical phone calls...get those too. They add a little zip of ridiculousness to my day! My last one was last Sunday. Cell voicemessage (I wasn't taking her calls): I just heard your sobbing hysterical phone message. What is WRONG? I'm VERY CONCERNED!!! CALL ME BACK IMMEDIATELY - I KNOW YOU SEE THIS IS YOUR MOTHER " I texted her an hour later: Got your message. No call from me since last Tuesday when I returned your calls. Things are fine here. So, I found out from dad yesterday that she called him shortly after she called me with, " What is going ON? I got a SOBBING HYSTERICAL phone message from L and I tried to call but she must be SCREENING MY CALLS AGAIN and won't pick up! Are they OK? Is she in the hospital? " His response: I just talked to her 1/2 hour ago. She's doing fine. Must have been a wrong number. YOU DO have Caller ID you know... So, yes.... I LOVE the phone messages of doom... Lynnette - the response line to Nada's " don't die " warning.... " no one gets out alive mom... Guest guest
Geez, maybe your nada has developed an alternate personality and she's calling herself! Or maybe her projections have turned astral! (As in showing up in your dreams, um nightmares.....) Sorry. Too scary a thought. Seriously, hope you're feeling better after all the drama. Guest guest
Suzy, They just love to make themselves the center of attention no matter what the circumstances, don't they? A friend's daughter dies and your nada has to make it all about how she couldn't stand it if the same thing happened to you. I guess she couldn't find any more direct way of making that death be all about her. Guest guest
Icky! " maybe your nada has developed an alternate personality and she's calling herself " ... she has done stuff like that before - berated things/people that supposedly happened TO her when, in fact, it was stuff done BY her.... hmmmm... have to bring that up in therapy. Hadn't really made the connection there until you said that. I guess the final question would be, " HOW NUTS IS THIS WOMAN? " Lynnette > > Geez, ! Or maybe her projections have turned astral! Guest guest
I think that's definitely something to look into. I've thought for a while now that my nada is " reality challenged " as well as just plain mean, hateful and narcissistic. -Annie > > > > Geez, ! Or maybe her projections have turned astral! Guest guest
" reality challenged " ... you geez, that's 100% it... she writes her truths... regardless of how OUT THERE they are... and if I or anyone calls her on them, she goes mean, hostile, evil, crying...whatever emotion d'jour she can conjure up. Lynnette > > > > > > Geez, ! Or maybe her projections have turned astral! (As in showing up in your dreams, um nightmares.....) > > > Sorry. Guest guest
I guess the final question would be, " HOW NUTS IS THIS WOMAN? " I'm thinking as nutty as a walnut tree. No, make that a grove. Suzy
