Guest guest
Diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. Recently more and more my neck feels full. Having more of a difficulty swallowing. My thyroid gland and my adam's apple area feel larger. Why would my entire neck seem puffy and not just the Thyroid area. Is this cause for major concern. Not scheduled to go back to the dr. for another 2 months.
Guest guest
Hi , What tests did they run on you when you were in? Did they tell you what the cause for your being Hypo is? To say that you are hypothyroid is not a diagnosis, the diagnosis is what caused the thyroid to reduce function. Do you have copies of your labs, would you be able to post your results, and the labs ranges? There are a few reasons for the thyroid to enlarge (goiter) if it's getting uncomfortable to breathe and swallow I'd give the doc a call and have them check it out. Have they started you on any medication yet? what are you taking and how much? How long ago did you see the doc? ..... get ready for more questions... we can get a little nosey! *shy smile* Topper () On Fri, 31 Dec 2004 03:37:17 -0000 "het272000" writes: Diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. Guest guest
, If I were you, I would definitely call my doctor. I had a complete thyroidectomy in March of this year due to two very large nodules on my thyroid. It became difficult to swallow and my husband said that I sounded like I was choking in my sleep. The throat surgeon told me that they had a hard time getting the tube down my throat for the surgery because the growth was so large that it had pushed whatever that tube in your throat is called out of place. It now has a definite curve that should not be there. The growths were so large that they also involved my parathyroid. He said that if it had continued to grow I would have gotten to where I could not swallow and it would have affected my breathing. However, if the growth had been detected before it became so large that it probably could have been shrunk and I could have kept my thyroid by increasing my thyroid hormone dosage. I had the misfortune of having doctors at that time who did not listen to me and for over a year told me that I was imaging this lump in my throat. I now have different doctors. You might want to request that they do a Thyroid scan to determine if there are any growths. Good luck, Jeannie Re: Fullness in Neck!!! Hi , What tests did they run on you when you were in?
