Guest guest
Has anyone experience hyperactivity and/or increased stimming with super nu thera? I have been trying to figure out what is increasing my son's stimming/hyperactivity and it seems to be linked to the super nu thera? Any suggestions? Thanks-GTEALER-------------------------- REPLY; This is info from the new gfcf board; several people complained of slight hyperactivity when begiining SNT and it was suggested by others there that it may be due to being a phenolic product. However, I don't recall if we had such but it's been 4 years ago. I think on Rimland's site, he suggests that if this should occur, to down size the amount and give more Folic acid tabs. More magnesium sometimes helps, also, IMO, as long as it nots oxide, which is laxative. Did you remember to start with the small amounts first then work up to the full required-suggested amount over a couple of week's time? That could help. You might also try the good ol' bicarb of soda in water, 1 teaspoon to one 8 oz. glass, or lesser amount of 1/4 teaspon to 1/4 - 4 oz. - of water. This solution isn't hurt by letting it sit out overnight, if you need to use it thru' the night. They don't need to drink it all at once either, just a gulp or 2, then sips through the day, or eve. For phenol problems, the enzymes are often suggested by parents who use them. Try all these 'things' first, then, if they still have problems with SNT, you can try another form of it, that is, if you're using liquid now, switch to powder or caplets that you can crush. Be sure that they, the kids, also have a full mineral balance wih it. If nothing helps, then IMO, try a 'normal' amount, or RDA, of a B-complex. There are also other formulas with special needs kids in mind that may have a full array of the necessary 'stuff' already in it and ..either the RDA of the B6, B12, Folic, or just a little higher for those with a complete formula for the other needed stuff that you might try. Oh, another 'warnign type'.. never let the SNT sit out on the counter after opening. It can, and has, turned into 'green wine', fermented, and can cause a multitude of other problems. I bought too big of a bottle for the kids and Mom often left it sit out until eve. When we switched to powder, I tok the bottle home, thinking I'd take it. Then I found out it had started to ferment and boy! Did I have stomach aches. So, the powder is better for us. Grandma Peg
Guest guest
Lots of people report they get hyper and stimming with SNT, but you can try lowering the dose. I never had a problem with it on 1 t/day. But now I've switched to more balanced product. SNT was a while back. A good B-complex and maybe adding in 100 mg. of B-6 is what I am trying out now, after using miscellized B drops for awhile (doctor thinks his B6 was too low on that). Then you have to add in all the other supps separately, which is a pain. Magnesium, v. important. Zinc, biotin, cis A (preferably), D, E, maybe some CoQ10. Oh, yes, a big pain which is why I used the SNT, but it is pretty extreme product and lots of side effects I've heard about over the years of being " on the boards " . And I dont' mean executive boards! Marti.
Guest guest
it seemed to be all the extra B for us, we stopped the SNT, and it stopped too. Thanks-GTEALER SNT aggravates phenol symptoms for phenol sensitive children. I have a study to that effect on my site page here http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm Some parents have luck with lower doses of hypoallergenic NuThera. Others find that their kids do not tolerate high doses of B6, especially the P5P version. Dana
Guest guest
Yes, my son will be 6 in Feb and he also was dx w/PDDNOS & apraxia. It hasn't helped him w/speech but it is an excellent vitamin and I have been giving it to him for almost 6 mths. I hasn't really been too sick either - with colds.. so I'm sure a strong vitamin helps with that. but speech - no real difference. I saw the speech surge with the ProEFAs. Hope this helps. Guest guest
We used it for a while too...but it tastes really nasty and eventually it was too much trouble to get in. No change when we stopped and went back to flinstones. - > Yes, my son will be 6 in Feb and he also was dx w/PDDNOS & apraxia. Guest guest
My kids could not tolerate super nu thera. We like Brainchild Nutritionals liquid vitamins and minerals - you can get a trial bottle at brainchildnutritionals.com. > > We used it for a while too...but it tastes really nasty and eventually > it was too much trouble to get in. Guest guest
Hi, My name is Haydee. What is the brainchild and what does it do? Guest guest
Brainchild Nutritionals (Brainchildnutritionals.com) makes multi-vitamin and mineral liquids. They taste decent, much better than super nu thera, and my kids have never had any negative reaction to them (they did to SNT). We mix the liquid in OJ. , did you see any progress with the brainchild? What form are they in > and taste? thanks, Carolyn > >
Guest guest
what benefits did you see from the super nu thera, if any? thanks, Carolyn
Guest guest
Oh my gosh, I just looked on the Kirkman labs website and there must be 50 Super Nu Theras listed!! Which one do people use? We need a liquid for our son, almost 3 yrs, who has apraxia, hypotonia, and developmental delays. We currently do a calcium supplement as well as multivitamin so if there's one with calcium that people like, I'd be interested in that. I'm also interested in which flavor people have liked best. Thanks. Off-list is fine - dt23@.... I did a search of the archives and saw that discussion of this vitamin has come up before, but didn't see the answer to my particular question. Thanks. Guest guest
I know burnt butt as we have had it. We got it with citrus yet my kids were deemed not allergic. I now question if it was a metal thing, an undetected allergy, or yeast. No way to know. That is why I asked. P.S. Daughter gets burnt butt with 1/4 dose Supernuthera w/o A and D. > > Sorry Liz, just saw this email. It was an allergic reaction that happened > right away.
