Guest guest
It's hard to imagine the rude, insensitive things that doctors have to say about their obese patients, but they're human, too, and can be just as thoughless as the next person. I had a smiliar experience with a FORMER primary care physician. I overheard his comments when I came out of the examining room after he had left me to put my clothes on after my exam. He was telling his nurses, " She's got a laundry list a mile long of health problems, and they're all related to her weight. If she weren't such a heifer, she'd be perfectly fine. " Not only the nurses heard this, but so did the patients who were sitting in the laboratory waiting area. I was supposed to have some blood drawn by the lab after my examination, but I decided to leave after hearing his awful comments. But not before I told him, in front of the same nurses and patients, that I thought he was highly unprofessional and one of the rudest people I'd ever met, and that I would no longer be paying him my hard-earned money to be thought-of or discussed in that manner. He obviously didn't take my care very seriously. His nurses gasped, he sputtered, and I saw one of the waiting patients give me a big smile just before I marched out of his office. I should have told him I was reporting him to the state medical society, but I had to leave before I snapped his little chicken neck, and all that was left of him was a twitching stain on the carpet! Now, I'm not suggesting you do the same, Kathy, but keep in mind, We are the patients, and We have the power! Dr. Rutledge himself has heard comments questioning why he would want to treat " those kind of people. " Unfortunately, we all have to suffer all kinds of fools in life, and some in the most unlikely places, and it can really hurt, but your nurse was right to congratulate you on your victory with Kaiser. And they rest of us should say a prayer for the ignorant people of the world, including unsympathetic doctors, for they know not what they do. _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
