Meg, It is always difficult to find terms when the first letter is wrong. The

word starts with ten and can be found in Dorland's. If you need any more help,

let me know, Margaret

Hi Everyone -

I am a student MT and I'm looking for help with a word on one of my dictation

assignments. If you'd rather not give me the answer - but point me in the right

direction - I'd be very grateful!!! I've tried looking in Dorland's and the

word lists at MT Desk, Google and Atomica. I think I'm just not even close in

my spelling so I'm not getting anywhere.

The report I'm transcribing is a History and Physical Evaluation Report. The

patient is a male with rectal cancer.

" Three to four months ago, he noticed a flattening of his stool and the onset of

straining without a bowel movement, i.e. s/l kenesnis. "

I've been looking through my course materials to try and find a term that means

" straining without a bowel movement " but haven't had any luck.

Thanks very much!!

Meg

The following was dictated:

Tenderness of the temporomandibular joint and s/l massiter area.

I cannot find massiter or anything like it. Does anyone know what this would

be.

Thanks.

Virginia, I've had that happen before. Just keep looking and looking and I'm

sure it's not there. Then get help and suddenly it appears. Sure am glad there

are places like this where you can go to get those questions answered, Margaret

Thanks everyone. For some reason, I couldn't find it in my medical

dictionary. Looking it up again after receiving all your replies, I finally

found it.

Thanks.
