Big Red Flag. If she doesn't how to help you. Find a different therapist.

I second that... I went to 2 different therapists before I found mine and she is

terrific. Move on....

" the women doesnt really know what she could do for me without my nada present. "

OK that is ridiculous. What if your nada was dead? Would she say, " sorry I

can never help you. " Drop her. And don't feel bad about it. Find someone

else!

I agree with the earlier posters. Not every therapist has the training,

experience or talent to work with the adult survivors of child abuse, so, you

have to " shop " for a therapist who has the right qualifications, and who is

hopefully a good " match " for you personality-wise as well.

I hope you find a good one!

Absolutely, run don't walk away and look for a different therapist. The mistake

I've made many times is to " give them a chance " because I feel bad about

rejecting them based one appointment. But usually what you see in the beginning

is a true reflection of how it will be.

I totally agree with what everyone has said.It sounds like this particular

therapist doesn't know about BPD--and if you're having to explain

yourself/justify somehow your perceptions in the first session, that's not a good

sign.

If this helps,here's a link to Psychology Today's " find a therapist "

search engine(for the US and Canada).I found several therapists to consult with

in my area using this site--the therapists write their own intro and list their

strengths and specialities (such as trauma/abuse issues or personality

disorders, etc).I found it helpful to have the free consultation with all the

therapists who dealt with my issues in order to narrow them down to the one I

did choose to go with.(who turned out to be really good!)

Best of luck to you...

I can not agree more with the above. It may take a while, but you have got to

find someone who knows BPD. Having your mom present would be a disaster.
