I think the things you are asking are things we are all probably asking ourselves. The journey is long, difficult, and unique to each person. I just think we have to take it day by day and adjust what we are doing as we go along. Don't give up! Romey

Guest guest
Hey, I totally understand how you feel. I used to get really discouraged when the weight wasn't coming off as fast as I wanted it too. But then someone told me something that helps keep me going... " You didn't gain all that weight overnight and you are not going to lose it all overnight either. " Whenever I start to give up, I just remember that. > In a message dated 3/11/2003 5:12:07 PM Eastern Standard Time, > trautmanfamily@s... writes: > > > > So here's a fear I've been having. Guest guest
This is a very common fear. I know what you mean and i totally understand how you feel, but it's just that you have to modify your behaviors. Once you start loosing that weight in exercising only 20 mins a day 3-4 times a week, you gotta pick it up a notch, 30 mins a day 3-4 times a week, then 5 times a week, then eventually after a while it'll be a lot longer. My gym workout used to be about 20 mins then i'd go home. now i do 30 on the glider, then i go and do 30 in the weight room, and once my body gets used to that...and i'm not loosing inches or weight, then i will up my weights / reps. To gain muscle you up your weight, to tone yourself (not muscle gain, but inches lost) you up your reps with the same weight. Now that's just an example. and when you start to loose weight, your stomach is like elastic, it will shrink also, and you'll notice that you wont feel hungry as you once did..wont require as much as you do when you're a larger person. I remember that from when i was waaaay down at 220...i noticed myself not eating as much, getting fuller quicker. and just think that every time you feel that uncomfortable fullness, you're stretching that stomach more.... just tryin to throw in a few tips i've learned over the years. You will notice a plateau in your weight loss...and that's because your body is now used to what you are doing everyday. do your normal workout, and then go for a walk around the block, an extra 5 minutes will ad up...that's an extra 35 mins a week! Hope this helped... oh yeah i forgot KEEP COMING HERE!! That'll help you too! *hugs* hope i didnt ramble off in 1000 different directions... Amy > So here's a fear I've been having. Guest guest
Amen to that Romey! Day by Day, Prayer by Prayer and Pound by Pound! Together is easier.... Guest guest
Are you just begining? How long have you been trying? I ask because it seems like it takes a certain amount of time and then your body just kind of gets in the groove of things and takes over for you. Your eating habits change so your not " dieting " so much as you are just eating differently and the weight really does seem to just magicaly come off by itself. Now that isn't a wopping 10 pounds a month mind you, just a pound a weeks or so. But that's ok and do you know why? Because through out this whole time your not having to give up the treats you talked about. I look at it this way...my biggest thing is that I WON'T (repeat...WON'T) do anything to loose this weight that I can't do forever. And I'm telling you what - I live for chocolate and pizza and all that other stuff. I'm not giving it up forever, so I'm not giving it up now. I've done the " get skinny then get fat plus some " thing too many times - not happening this time I tell ya. If you want a treat - have it for heavens sake. DON'T DEPRIVE YOURSELF!!!! This is not a quicky weight loss diet. This is a new way of life - a thinner/heathier way of life. Get some fat free no sugar added frozen yogurt. (not that yucky ice-milk stuff....the expensive good stuff). I meen WAY better than ice cream. You want cake - eat cake...make it yourself with egg beaters and canola oi and apple sauce ... less fat by far, fewer calories...just eat it while it's warm and if you need to sprinkle a bit of powdered sugar on top. Cut the icing out if you can. Or easier yet try those little 'smart ones' desserts in the frozen diet section. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Just be carfull, it's really hard not to eat the entire box at once :-) The way I figure it, I don't see skinny people freaking out on a piece of cake. They eat it, enjoy it and couldn't care less about the guilt thing. So - to be a skinny person - do as the skinny person - get rid of the guilt! Now treat does mean 'TREAT' - not 'everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner'. LOL Although I did go through that stage too. Ang > So here's a fear I've been having. Guest guest
hahaa I totally understand, i have thought that before. " oh my gawd i already spend an HOUR at the gym...what happens when my body is used to *that*?? " but...you'll be used to it, so adding a little more wont hurt much. *hugs* keep up the good work! you'll make it past this! Amy > > > So here's a fear I've been having. Guest guest
, Believe me it get's a lot easier. Gradually you're body adpats to the changes you are making so that not only do they become habit anyway they also become normal and you don't think twice about it. You'll probably find that you'll get to a point where you don't feel like you;re actually doing much anymore and will want to exercise for an extra 10 minutes rather than be dreading having to do more. Don't worry about the future. Just focus on what you need to do now Bitsy
Guest guest
, Yes, I know what you mean, having been 284 lbs and still over 200 and that is why it has to b e a lifestyle, not just for a number on the scale. You have to keep reminding yourself of the other benefits and there are many. Blood pressure, preventing diabetes,, cancer, memory loss, arthritis, the list goes on and on! Just take it one day at a time. Keep working on habits and behaviors. The amount you lose will keep getting smaller and things will get easier. Guest guest
That's what the trainer at the gym told me too. I can't wait until May as they have circuit training every lunch hour for the staff. That will be a big challenge and change for me! allison > > > I guess because I work out about on average 6 days a week with 30 > > minutes of cardio each session sometimes 40 and sometimes 60 minutes > > and I do weights 3 times a week and pilates/yoga 3 times a week.
