He really liked them, and, because he got exczema in the outer part of his ear, they really helped. His loss is profound and we never had feedback problems with them. órla " Education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire " W.B.Yeats

They were, in my humble opinion, the best earmoulds he ever had in 6 yrs of hearing aid use and MULTIPLE ear moulds cuz it was from age 7 mos to age 6 yrs! órla " Education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire " W.B.Yeats

Has anyone had any experience with these? If it were my son, I'd ask the audiologist what will happen if there is too much feedback with your son, or if my son didn't like them. In other words, will they simply re-make them or can I get a different style and not have to pay any more? I'd be a bit reluctant to try these with high power hearing aids. The website about these earmolds doesn't say they're for a profound hearing loss. http://www.emtech-labs.com/patriots.htm If you do try them and they do work well for your son, please let us know! Guest guest
I emailed the company to ask about these earmoulds for a 2-year old with profound HI, whether they do it by post (with us taking ear impressions here) and how much it costs to ship to the UK. I forgot to ask about turnaround time. This is their reply (and i hope it's OK to copy it in full rather than have to paraphrase): > I do not really recommend a Patriot earmold for a small child. I would recommend an Emplex shell mold-we can make that for $60 US dollars including USPS > airmail. We would like to have an audiogram with the mold. If you need more information please fax 540-265 9165 or call us at 540-265 9156 and ask for > customer service. > Or our mailing address is Emtech Labs P.O. BOX 12900 Roanoke VA 24022 It was an amazingly fast reply. They even called us at home (from USA to UK) but my husband wasn't aware of what it was about so he didn't pay too much attention... Guest guest
Thank you for help. We have decided to give them a try. The audiologist was very enthusiastic about them and did assure us that if my son didn't like them or there was any feedback we would not be charged for them and could go back to the standard earmolds. I will let everyone know how they worked out. My son is 17 with a profound loss and Widex Senso aids. > __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I forwarded your question to a friend who may have these kinds of ear molds. Her new kind are mostly in the ear and she says they are very comfortable and less sweaty. I don't know if they are called Patriot or not. Also, I don't know how soft they are- or if they would hurt a child if they were fallen on. Randie Chubin Margie (7) moderate/moderate to severe, EVAS Eli (4) and Mollie (1), hearing From: KS330@... Reply-To: Listen-Up To: Listen-Up Subject: Patriot earmolds Date: Wed, 05 Dec 2001 03:30:15 -0000 We went to a new audiologist today and she recommended the Patriot earmolds for my teenage son. I have not seen or heard of these before. The are basically only in the ear canal. Suppossedly they really prevent feedback with high power aids for a profound loss and are said to be much more comfortable than the typical earmold design. Has anyone had any experience with these? I would appreciate all opinions. Thank you very much for your help. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
Guest guest
I looked at this website and they look different than my friends. I thought hers were clear. She has at least a severe loss. Maybe there is another kind out there. Also, I don't know how easy they are to put in and take out. Guest guest
My son has been wearing canal molds from Great Lakes for several years now. He likes them a lot. Guest guest
My son was fitted for the Patriot earmolds last month. I was a little worried because he has a profound loss and has Widex digital hearing aids and has always had a history of feedback problems. I am happy to report that these are the best ear molds we have had in 16 years!!! There hasn't been a single incident of feedback yet. He says they are very comfortable. This is the first time we have not had to have ear molds remade at least once because of feedback or other problems. I want to thank all of you who answered my questions when I inquired here about them.
