I suppose you can try, but if your liver function is off they will likely dispose of the blood even if they do take it. I always wanted to donate too, and tried several times, but not dice. :-( athan

Here in SC, you cannot donate if you suffer from an autoimmune disease or are on certain medications. Here is the website for our local blood bank, and it clearly outlines all the restrictions: http://www.thebloodconnection.org/donating/blood.htm I would imagine that this would be pretty uniform nationwide. Guest guest
Dear Terri, Here in Connecticut PSC people can donate blood .I do not know if they use it for transfusion or for research. You might want to check with your local Red Cross or with the organization in your country that collects blood. So you see Terri there is no such thing as a stupid question and another thing, try not to fall victim to the "dumb blond" sterotype. Blonds are bright, beautiful people. Guest guest
I have been told not to donate blood due to the sulfasalazine I take for UC (tends to thin blood, like aspirin). Guest guest
Terri I was told by my MD ok, but the red cross freaked when I put on the application that I had a liver disease. They turned me away. I was bummed having donated before the Dx. Best jd, 44 Soooon 45! UC 1973, Jpouch 2000, Chronic Pouchitis 2001, PSC 2004, Stage 3 ston City, IL krmpotich@...
