Guest guest
You have it right. The 70/30 insulin refers to a mixture of insulin, and 70/30 is isophane insulin suspension (70%) and insulin injection (30%) human. Guest guest
There is an insulin that is a mixture (70/30). Let's see...in the July '02 issue of the MPR, I found Humulin 70/30 insulin, which is 70% NPH and 30% Regular. Another type is 75/25 insulin. I know, it gets so confusing! Hope it helps! ) Insulin question I don't know much about insulin but this is what is dicated: She currently takes 70/30 insulin (70 units q.a.m. and 40 units before dinner). Is that right? Wouldn't it be 30 units before dinner? Is it a mistake or do I just not know what he's talking about? Tani
Guest guest
So where he says " 40 units before dinner " he should have said 30? Guest guest
You absolutely should transcribe 40 units if that's what he said. I'm curious as to why you think it should be 30??? Because it's 70/30 insulin? Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. " " Whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules. Guest guest
Yep. That's exactly why. I told you I didn't know much about it. Now I know better. I didn't change what he dictated. I just wondered why it didn't seem to go together. Thanks. Guest guest
No. It's 40 units of 70/30 insulin. The 70/30 is the KIND of insulin and the 40 units is the dose. Guest guest
I kinda thought that's what you were thinking, and I can see why you would think that. That would seem logical wouldn't it? I'm glad you asked the question because now I've had my memory refreshed as to what 70/30 means. We all learn something every day. Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. Guest guest
Hey, y'all, I'm curious about whether it's a good thing to mix Latin abbreviations with written-out English. To wit: 70 units q.a.m. and 40 units before dinner Why wouldn't it be either: 1. 70 units q.a.m. and 40 units a.p. (or q.a.p.) 2. 70 units each morning and 40 units before dinner ?? Guest guest
I'll tell ya what makes me crazy when transcribing insulin doses, and that is the sliding scale!! The doc dictates: " 151-200, 2; 201-250, 4; 251-300, 6; etc.etc.etc. " except it's one long stream of numbers. No punctuation. Hardly pauses in between. It comes out sounding like, " One fifty-one to two two two oh one to two fifty four two fifty-one to three six......... " ACK!!! Seriously, people, I *am* diabetic, and I have been on sliding scale insulin, but when they rattle it off like that it took me more than a few times of going back and forth to figure it out and add the correct punctuation! Sorry....had to vent! =8^/~ Re: Insulin question No. It's 40 units of 70/30 insulin. The 70/30 is the KIND of insulin and the 40 units is the dose. Guest guest
I have to agree with you, but unfortunately, it's a verbatim account. I just type 'em like he sez 'em.
