Hello, has anyone heard of R-lipoic Acid? Is anyone using it to chelate? I

read about it on VRP's newsletter where it says that this is the natural form

of ALA and is ten times more potent than the commonly available synthetic

form of alpha lipoic acid. After I read this I ordered it and have been

using it to chelate. 25mg ALA/ 25mgDMSA every three hours for my 35 lb son.

Now looking back he has not made marked gains in the past three or four

rounds and I had decided to up the DMSA to 50mg, thinking he has plateaued at

the previous level. I was just ordering more DMSA and ALA from VRP when the

connection popped into my mind. Are the two lipoic acids different? Andy,

do you know? Thanks in advance, Ashi

Yes.

No, and you shouldn't either. All the chelation papers and experience

are with RS lipoic acid. Switching to R lipoic acid simply turns your

kid into a new science experiment. You don't want to experiment, you

want to get him better the same way other people are getting their

kids better.

I guess I'll stop buying stuff from VRP if they insist on fraudulent

hype like that. After all, synthetic ALA is 50% R-ALA. So this stuff

can't be more than twice as effective.

Yes.

Sounds like you ought to go back to the regular RS stuff (synthetic)

and see if progress starts again. Please do let us know.
