I've only ever had the standard one set of pierced ears (so to speak) and let them close up through laziness a couple of years ago. I keep saying I'm going to get them re-done, but wait til I've got no money and then put it off again! A couple of weeks ago, I was glad I'd been delaying as after waiting half an hour to be seen before giving blood I was reminded you can't give blood for a year after having any piercing. Here's the challenge - will Lesley Moor get her ears pierced before conference???? Tell you what, I'll get them done as soon as I get my letter from BPG saying I've qualified. Not sure what since my belly button has been completely cocked up from the laparoscopy....mind you maybe a piercing might disguise it!!!...not sure what other things I could do......mind you my evening out was pretty rebellious for me!!! Guest guest Posted June 12, 2000 Report Share Posted June 12, 2000 I have a lapa. scar too but it is very neat (amazingly) it is an inverted T shape which Tim thinks is hilarious (like ha! of course!) rather hidden in the stretch mark wrinkles! what about a tattoo round your BB, that woould hide it? I've just been up to re-check and it is definitely hidden in my pubic hair - they shaved the top inch off and the hair has re-grown over it. On one side, the right, it is a little deeper, I suppose but on the middle and left, nothing! KWYM about the stretch marks though! the ppl i know who were talkng about tattoos were american -some with classical scars and others with higher transverse scars -does seem that US docs aren't so neat with the needle as the brits (in my very unrepresenative circle of aquaintances!) angi Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The first is almost within my tummy button, and the other disguised as a stretch mark. Only prob with a tattoo, of course, is that it is permanent.!!!!!!!!!!!! If a scar is unsightly, there is a lot that can be done with plastic surgery these days, special dressings etc, some of which you can even buy in Boots and other chemists. Oh yeas, they are more common over there aren't they, classical scars. Or so I've heard. Coupla things: When I was in NZ the local beauty therapist had just learned how to tattoo scars out i.e. she uses a dye similar to your skin colour and tattoos the white line to match - neat, eh? She was using it to help women who had had mastectomies, and also tattooed nipples onto the skin, I think. A friend was showing me her scar resulting from an op last year - a lump was discovered round near her ovaries/appendix somewhere down there (I gave up biology long before it became anatomy!) and she had it removed through a vertical incision about 1 inch to right of her tummy button. It is about 3-4 inches long but has formed a keloid/ketoid whatever scar - very nasty and red and visible, it even has cross marks. -- Sue Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Had the two extras done in my first year at college (surprise, surprise). I don't usually use the extra holes, but they haven't healed up and every so often, they get all gunky and infected, so I have to get the gold sleepers out to sort them out! It's the price us rebels have to pay! I often wonder what all those people did that had " cut here " tattooed (sp?) across their necks in the late 70s.
