Alice,

Congrats on the 77 lbs. in 6 months. That sounds wonderful. I think the

exercise would be my weakness when my time comes. Good work.

Congrats on the 77lbs way to go. Maybe the rice was swelling and went out the

wrong way. I can't eat much rice either.

Congrats Alice!

They always say 2 tbs...wonder why none of us can ever just eat that amount,

except in the beginning yet, still lose? BECAUSE IT'S MUCH SMALLER than

prior I think!

I can eat like a " normal " person now, except with chicken if it's dry. I

have to have it all souped up in something to make it not stick, or boil it

first with a bouillon to break it down a bit.

You spit up huh? SUCKY feeling I must say! I'll betch it was the rice.

One thing I have found (for me), for some reason Minute Rice is MUCH easier

for me to eat, as opposed to the " real " kind you gotta cook, and

pilaf...maybe it's a bit sticky for our new belly??

Congrats again...

PS..,Can I have all your old 24 clothes? LOL!

Update

Hi all,

I just had my 6 month check-up with Dr. Thayer, and he felt that I was right

on track. I’ve lost 77#, and gone from a size 24 to a 14. He said that my

goal weight is 125#, but he thinks I look fine now at 159. We’ll see how it

goes. I feel like I’m eating like a normal person and Sue thought my diet

sounded pretty good. I can eat bigger portions than I should, and Dr. T.

said

to watch that. He tells me my pouch can hold 2 tablespoons. Well, I hate to

say it, but I’m loking at more like 2/3 of a cup! Guess I’ll have to work on

that. I also have to drink more water and exercise more. Those have been my

weaknesses.

A wierd thing happened last week. I “spit up” for the first time! Now I know

what everyone’s talking about. The odd part is that I didn’t eat that much.

I

had 2 shrimp, a few bites of fish, some salad, and a few bites of rice.

That’s about normal for me. Anyway, it hit me all of a sudden and I had to

go

to the bathroom at the restaurant! Only a tiny bit of rice came out, but I

felt SO much better, I was amazed. Anyway, sorry to be graphic. I just

thought it odd that this didn’t happen for 6 months.

Hope everyone’s well. Kim F., what’s up with the spa, chica? Are we on?

Alice A.-Congratulations on the 77 lb weight loss. I agree with Dr. T. that

you look great now! You don't look heavy, at all! Are you sure you want to

try for 125? Sounds a bit low to me. Just see how low your body wants to

go. I just don't want you to obsess about the numbers (we must be in a movie

theater because there's a whole lot of projection in this email,LOL! That's

just what I do, obsess about the numbers). Anyway, you have made some

incredible changes. Keep it up! BTW, I can eat more than 2 tablespoons too!

Are you going to the Nov. NWH meeting? If so, I'll see you there!

Thanks, Dawn! Yes, I think it was the rice that night, although I'm able

to eat rice just fine any other time. I guess it was just too much. In

general, I find myself eating too fast, which enables me to eat more

than I need to. I have to work on that.

Today, my goals are to survive withoue coffee and sugar. I'm already

prepared for the after lunch sweet craving, and will have an apple with

peanut butter. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'll go through my stuff and pull out the 24's for you. Maybe we can get

together in person for delivery. Otherwise, I can box them up.

Steph,

I agree that 125 would be a bit much. I'm shooting for 130 in my dreams,

but I think 140-150 is more realistic. Anyway, I'll see you at the

This is great news for you...the best ever. This is one hurdle out of the way. I hope that placenta is happy and doesn't detach and that it stays high in your uterus. You are fortunate in that you had this surgery beforehand and that your uterus is in good shape. You will be fine. Please don't worry about the HCG levels. If they are doubling every 48-72 hours that is what is important. If they are high, it makes no difference. If they are low, it makes no difference. It's just the fact that they are doubling in the right time period.

Your next hrudle will be in two weeks. Then it will be getting out of your 1st trimester etc. Please try to relax and let your body do it's thing and take one day at a time. Good luck, you will get there. It will not get any easier , take it from me, but if you divide the time up into chunks you will get there. My next goal is to get to 28 weeks. Then 30 then 32, then 36. It has been hard, but you can do it. Take care and be good to yourself.

so many times....every pregnancy is different. You simply CANNOT

compare one to the other.

So as hard as it is, try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy! We'll all

look forward to your report when you see that little heart beating

Suzanne,

Sorry to hear that you have not passed any tissue as of yet.

I am happy to hear that your lawsuit is going well. As you may know, I too am in the process of sueing. I have not heard from my lawyer from before Christmas and I really should phone to see where he is up to. No one ever said it would be easy but I made a promise to myself that I would do everything in my power to get through this whether I win or not. The best thing that I did was to keep a diary of exactly what I was doing with regards to the problems that started with Ashermans and I have kept a record of them all. I wrote my case history to the lawyer with every single date on it and that sure impressed him. I also happened to have, luckily, a telephone number of one of the girls in hospital who witnessed me almost faint from the pain I had from the retained placenta. The nurses basically took no notice of me and they put a couple of pillows to my feet and told me I would be fine. They missed the whole clue of retained placenta. I am waiting for my lawyer to advise me if I need to contact her.

Good luck.

Poly,

I did hear that you were going to sue. Good luck. It sounds like

you have some very good documentation.

I retained this lawyer last March and the doctor was served in July

before the statute of limitations was up. Nothing has happened up

until now as far as progressing with the case and it is interesting

to see that they are now moving very quickly. I will keep you posted.

Take care,

Suzanne

Becky,

Thanks for your update. I'm not sure what you mean when you say that your period was very light but there was no blood at all. How can that be? Are you still on hormones? If so, then I wonder if that could be the reason for a light period, otherwise, your lining may be too thin.

I'm not sure about the percentage of women who get ashermans although it is supposed to be rare, but I look at the amount of women who come to this sight and think that these are only the ones who have a computer and have a decreased or no period to make them go to a doctor. What about those who don't have computers and what about those who never find out if they have ashermans because they are bleeding lightly? I just wonder sometimes. Although we do have women who have left the group, we are 163 women to date and in January (and this month was considered a quiet month!!) alone we had 8 members join, I still have 10 members pending subscription. These are people who I am waiting to receive their introduction before I let them join the group. So as you see, it is not as rare perhaps as it was once thought to be.

I hope that this woman that your new gyn knows will soon get in touch with you and we can welcome her in our group. It is very sad to be suffering this syndrome all by yourself.

Take care

Poly

Hi ,

For comparison:

- I get to keep all of my teeth.

- probably have to replace bridge/2 crowns post-op as they fit my old

crappy bite.

- $10,000 CAD for orthodontal treatment (ALF removeable appliances,

then fixed braces). Paid in monthly instalments ($2,000 on

installation, then 29 monthly payments with post-dated cheques). 11

months in ALFs, 9 months in fixed braces pre-op, probably 6 months

post-op.

- surgery covered 100% by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan).

Pretty damned expensive otherwise.

- $1,200 to 1,500 CAD for surgeon visits out-of-hospital not covered

(I forget exact amount).

- 6 sessions of cranial structural therapy included with ortho

treatment. I continued on 1 per 3 wks frequency since March of 2001,

and will likely continue for 1 year post-op. $65 CAD per hour

Everything following was recommended by my cranial therapist:

- chiropractic treatment 3x a week at $27 CAD per visit. Been doing

it for almost 16 weeks now. To resume at 8 wks post-op. Expected to

reduce to 2x wk and down to 1x mo within coming year.

- MLD (manual lymph drainage) therapy by physiotherapist. $95 CAD per

hr. First one 5 days before surgery, 2nd one 3 days post-op. Not sure

how many after that.

- homeopathic remedies. $60 CAD for 1 hour consultation and goodies.

Pending my surgeon/anaesthesiologist's approval. Hardly anybody here

thinks this is a good idea.

- yoga classes 1x wk at $10 CAD with real yogi (includes lecture).

Add yoga practice at home 1/2 hour every morning. Free. Started it to

build up strength for surgery, but find stress-reducing benefits

enough that I will continue for life.

USD is worth about 1.5780 CAD today. Wasn't following the euro,

sorry! (I can give it to you in Yen, though - 76.50 per CAD).

Hi there!

So gd to hear about this. By the way, what is the

doctor's opinion on the numbness? Will it go away?

I am postponing plans to get my jaw done cos' I am

concentrating on an online business I'm starting next

month. I will be selling pandan cream puffs online.

The website should be ready by the 2nd week of

September. It is www.pandanpuff.com. 1 doz for $20 -

free delivery! Its the real stuff - no essences or

pastes.

Bye for now and keep in touch.

Congratulations, Tata!

I'm so jealous. I can't wait to be where you are. (I haven't had my

surgery - braces have been on for 1 year, nine months.)

Are you doing any extra cosmetic teeth type things? (Like whitening,

caps, etc. to make every little thing perfect.) My ortho and dentist

tell me lots of people who go through this figure they might as well go

ahead and fix everything else too. Of course, the ortho and dentist

aren't being entirely altruistic when they promote this. ;)

Anyway, congrats on making it all the way through!

I dunno yet.

My next ortho appointment is on Sept. 3. Last time (7 weeks ago - much

longer than usual) she said we were just waiting for one tooth on the

top to move a little before putting the final wire on there. But I'm

not sure if the bottom ones are ready. I still have a much thinner wire

on them, and they still look pretty crowded to me.

So, I'll just wait and see what she says. (Insert huge sigh here) I

hope I get back to the surgeon soon, though, cause I've gotta get a

letter from him for my insurance company. I'd like to know if my time

off will be covered, cause if it is, I'm gonna take some holidays soon.

If not, I'll have to use 'em to cover my time off. Ick.

You should be able to check with the HR manager at your company

regarding the coverage. I suspect it will be covered under short-term

disability. Unfortunately, they rarely cover the first week off, and

they cap the remaining weeks at something ridiculous like $500 per.

My own employer generously offered to make up the difference so that

I receive full pay while off. Maybe yours will do the same.

Seven weeks sure is a long time between appointments. I hope the pace

picks up for you.
