Guest guest
So what was the expression on the vet's face after he saw that thimerosol *was* in the shots? I stopped giving my cat vaccinations years ago but I think she was already damaged. She has a very excitable temperment, very timid around other cats, and sometimes her head will twitch when she's just sititng still. The only time she will let me hold her is right after I get out of the shower and then only for a very short period of time. Bizarre. Any ideas? Can you safely chelate a cat? On another note, when I had a steel rod removed from my back last summer, I asked the anestesiologist if there was any thermosol sp? in the anastetic sp? and he didn't know what it was. Then he got " the expert " and this cocky guy gets on the phone and I rephrased it to mercury and he said he was 95% sure it didn't have any in it. This was at a very " prestigious " hospital in NYC. I had the surgery anyway, but kinda scary how little these so called experts know. [ ] Re: Request advice on new puppy Hello, I took my dog about 3 months ago to the vet and specifically asked about thimerosol and after looking at me like I was a freak he went and checked the label and said that only the rabies and distemper parvo combo were the only ones that did not. Of course we don't know what brand each office uses so it is probably best to ask the vet. I know they recommended that I get about 5 others and when I found out about the thimerosol I refused and proceeded to tell him that thimerosol was toxic and he should look for other shots. Anyway, just an FYI from my vets office. > Dear listmates, We got a new puppy who (unfortunately) was given a big shot > with 5 components at age 6 weeks prior to our rescuing her. Guest guest
I'd use Tryptophan without any hesitation to help calm the puppy. As far as poisons, what ones are you talking about? Why not exactly like for our kids... 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound, every 3 hours... Valentina

And when I started to inform the young residents (some were very interested) they were paged away. Several told me they wanted to learn more but amazingly never returned after that page. They must have been really busy!! I hope all the ones I spoke to had the courage to look further into the issues on their own afterward. I can hope. You can write me privately if you'd like her info. (I may be even slower than usual to answer -- I am in the process of changing computers, and things are <cough> a bit " odd " here. Right now the computer with email on it dosn't have a monitor or a phone line connected, for example.....so I just may not be too speedy.....) I've been (sporatically) reading some lists about cats, and vaccination is an issue-- that is, many people seem to really question its value, and see its downside/dangers. I think this is an " alternative " view, but it is there. There is a website [which I don't have the URL for just now either] that has an article by Don Hamilton DVM about vaccinations which is good. I bought his book HOMEOPATHIC CARE FOR CATS ANS DOGS. Personally, I would approach different toxins in different ways. For metals, well, chelation is at least an option. But I would not go there unless I was pretty sure the animal is really metal toxic. For " general " issues with vaccination (e.g. immunity, viruses) then I think homeopathy (or other forms of herbalism) are more what I would think of. Dogs and cats can also take material amounts (as opposed to homeopathic amounts) of herbal tinctures, in their food, etc. best wishes, Moria
