Guest guest
Hi Chantelle, I don't know if you remember us, but we talked in the hall waiting for the elevator a few times and I snapped a good picture of you and Makenna at the dance. Anyway, Makenna has asthma also. She uses an inhaler everyday two times per day. She is also on allergy meds. Her asthma is the worst during spring and fall but rainy days effect her too. I saw that you wanted some honey from the US. Can't you get honey in Canada? I can always send you some if you really want it. Let me know. , Makenna's momma > well i had the appointment. Guest guest
we also use the aerochamber plus, erika does not know when to take the breaths either, so we keep it on 10-15 secs and do 2-3 puffs 1mn apart. when she is really bad we still do nebulizers, it helps losen the secretions and makes it easier for her to cough them up cathie
Guest guest
I totally forgot about those! At the time we started using the Aerochamber with an inhaler, was only using neb treatments and it was awkward to lug the equipment to camp. We got an Aerochamber when she started going to camp a lot and we couldn't always rely on having electricity! But then the inhaler she was using was discontinued, and the pulmo switched her to the Advair. Thanks for the reminder! He felt she gets more medicine this way. I guess with nebulized meds they only get a small amount of the med. Anyway she has this device that has a mask on one end attached to a tube about 4 inches long or less on the end of the tube the inhaler fits into an opening. Makenna holds the mask to her face we push the inhaler and she holds it to her mouth for a count of 15. That way she doesn t have to worry about breathing at the right time. IT is called an AeroChamber Plus. May be something you want to discuss with the doctor. , mom to Makenna _____
Guest guest
Asthma, hmm. At least you know,..as there is so much mystery often in the medical aspects of CHARGE. Probably living in the Hamilton area doesn't help?? We have had so many air advisory warnings so far this summer in southern Ontario. Maybe that's what happened when we were walking to HSC that time? My son's asthma is triggered by his severe allergy to dairy. (Cats were fine) Ann gloyn, Canada > well i had the appointment. I failed the test only after 3 tests. Guest guest
Ann, what happend when we were walking to HSC was my legs cramped up, i think that was more related to me not taking calcium/magnisium. since ive been taking it i havnt had the cramping problem. when i forget for say a couple weeks the cramps get really bad again. Interesting hypothosis though. Chantelle
Guest guest
with Hayley i find when she has lots of secretions I put in 2-3mls of saline in neubuliser for about 10 minutes and this seems to help her with breaking it down cough up. mum to hayley 16mths old we also use the aerochamber plus, erika does not know when to take the > breaths either, so we keep it on 10-15 secs and do 2-3 puffs 1mn apart. > when she is really bad we still do nebulizers, it helps losen the > secretions > and makes it easier for her to cough them up > cathie > > >
Guest guest
Chantelle, Sorry to hear about your new diagnosis but it isn't that hard to deal with. Patty was diagnosed with asthma a few years ago. Hers are due to allergies, and are worse with lack of exercise. The more fit she is the better she is. If she has a sinus or ear infection it usually drips down her throat and the thick stuff can't move. She has to keep herself fit to keep things moving. When she exercises she also breathes in deeply through her nose and exhales out her mouth. That makes her lungs stronger. Patty takes albuterol with the areochamber. Doing it without the chamber makes it really hard. Sometimes she needs it three to four times a day and sometimes she can go weeks without it. It all depends on her environment and health. When she's bad she takes pulmicort too. But she doesn't like that one. We have asthma in our family so I would imagine it isn't a CHARGE thing. Kris has it too as do I. The girls have tried to use it to get out of dusting or vacuuming! Never worked though since I don't like those jobs either.
