Guest guest
Well, that could just be manipulation. It amounts to the same thing. What you can never know is whether she believed the lies. BP s seem to be able to convince themselves quite thoroughly of the New Truth that they invent. IMHO, when they believe it, even though false, it is gaslighting. If they have not deluded themselves into believing it, it is just lying. The point is moot, however, since whether they beleive it or not, they are speaking falsely to elicitie a responce or repaint a scenario that serves their purposes. Hope that helps. Doug > > Is gas lighting, when they twist the story to make you look bad? Or is when we're manipulated into doing something that turns out badly? > > For example: My BP telling my chiropractor, and everyone we knew that she's terribly worried about my " serious clinical depression " when actually I'd been prescribed antidepressants to help me stop smoking... I think this is gas lighting. It makes great fodder for the " doting mother " rubbish, while embarrassing me. > > But is it gas lighting when I was tricked into talking to Child Protection for my niece, because of lies she told me? After all, I was the one that made the call (not that any problems happened for my brother, apart from him being cross with me). BP didn't make me call. Just set up the lies so I'd be likely to. Is this gas lighting? >
