My first email to list..PSE

Hello,

I met a few of you in Dr R's office on Saturday, May 15. It was actually

my second clinic visit. My first visit was May 1st. So far, I have had

a complete physical, mammogram, pap smear and have my Psyche evaluation

scheduled for next Monday. I am 43 with a BMI of 54, married with 2

children, one 25, and one 6. (Yes, 2 different marriages!) Although I

have been overweight all my life, I developed Fibromyalgia with the

birth of Dylan in 1993, and have lived with chronic pain, increasing

weight, and decreasing health since then. I have developed high blood

pressure and am now borderline diabetic. My insurance is

Cigna/Healthsource/PrimaHealth (all the same) and I have been denied on

ny first request for MGB surgery. I am now waiting to see if the appeal

letter will work.

I have been reading your emails since Saturday and have not had a chance

to sit down and join in. I must say some of the things that I have

read on this list, and on the clos.net, have made me cry. I'm right

there with all of you. Especially the " 100 reasons " today. I have

experienced " all of the above " . Having to ask for an extension belt on

an airline, not being able to put the tray table down, having to survive

those " looks " from other passengers, buying a new car and having to have

a special seatbelt extender ordered for me, not wanting to be seated in

a booth in a restaurant, being able to cut my own toenails, etc.

Everything!!!! My six year old son tells me he wants me to be

" straight " , which is his word for skinny. I just want to be there when

he graduates from high school.

I just want you all to know that I have already been helped by your

support, and ask you to say a little prayer for me that my insurance

will approve the surgery for me. I would appreciate any help and

encouragement you can give!
