Guest guest
Hi, Welcome and there are several that have gone through what you are going through so just hang in there till they come aboard. You are not alone and there will be lots of things that you will learn here and things that you will teach just from your own experience. I wish I could be of more help but that is not something that I have had but there are lots of postings that you could go back and read that might put your mind at ease, until someone is available. Guest guest
l, I am also new to the group and know exactly what you are experiencing. I had half of my thyroid removed in 1995 and the other half removed in March of this year due to large tumors that were pre-cancerous. I am also having problems with my TSH levels being high. My last blood work was 11.4 and he wants it to be between .02 and .05. My synthroid dosage has been increased every six weeks since the middle of March. I am now takin .175 mcg. Like you, I thought that when they removed the nasty little thing my problems would be solved. Little did I know. In addition to not being able to get the synthroid levels right, I am having problems with calcium asorbtion due to my parathyroid being damaged due to the largeness of the tumor that was removed. I spent two weeks in the hospital on a calcium drip following the surgery and am now taking massive doses of calcium and another medication to make my body asorb the calcium. While I am at the same point you are in searching for answers, I can certainly lend an ear if you need to vent your frustrations. I know what you are going through. Guest guest
Hi, le, Welcome.... What dosage(s) were you on between being diagnosed and the thyroidectomy? Now... since the thyroidectomy, what dosage were you on and what are you on now? Has the doc been testing your free T4 and Free T3 levels? Even though your TSH is atrocious right now I'm curious if the doc knows how to properly check thyroid levels AND if he knows how to dose. How are you taking the Synthroid? On an empty stomach or full? Are you taking anything to help with your T4 to T3 conversion? You're on a T4 only med so that is very important. Are you avoiding foods that bind with thyroid hormone, making it unusable by your body? The most common is soy products (which are in a LOT of the things that we buy..._ When are you due for your next labs? Plenty of folks here to help you figure out what is going on..... so get ready to be answering tons of questions...... *smile* Topper ()*15 years post RAI, no thyroid function - on Natural thyroid since July '02) On Wed, 22 Dec 2004 21:31:15 -0000 "daniellemauldin30" writes: Hello, all.
