Guest guest
Jan, I found tegaserod which is used for irritable bowel syndrome. Unfortunately I have not been able to find out anything about it, RXlist didn't have anything, so am not positive that's what you're looking for, but thought I would throw it out anyway. Besides, I can really see a doc murdering that one, as I'm not sure how to pronounce it myself, Margaret >>> " Jantranscribes " 08/27/02 03:54PM >>> Ok, I'm stumped. I've looked in QLE, rxlist, and Drake and Drake and cannot find this. The patient is being put on this as a trial for relief of her constipation. The dosage is 6 mg if that means anything. I suspect the Doc is probably " murdering " the pronunciation and that's why I'm unable to find it. Thanks in advance Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. Guest guest
I'm thinking it's a real possibility, because per D & D it's investigational. After getting more into the report, the doc says this is for trial management of constipation to replace her Colace, Peri-Colace, and milk of magnesia. The patient is also on Prilosec. At one point, the doc says that the drug is too new to have any info about interactions with other meds. For the diagnosis, the doc says constipation, but never mentions IBS. <shrug> I'm thinking she's gonna get either a blank or get tegaserod flagged. :/ Thanks for looking Jan jantranscribes@... Guest guest
Jan, To many doctors, constipation is considered IBS. Most patients either have tendencies more toward constipation or toward diarrhea, but it is considered IBS either way. I'll bet this is what we're looking for, especially since your doc mentions that it is so new. Just wish we could find out if it is used to treat patients with constipation. Of course, if it was to treat patients with diarrhea, I would have heard about it by now, as I have IBS, with diarrhea being the main problem. Guest guest
Margaret, I did a little Googling, and the more I read, the more I'm thinking tegaserod is a winner. I've decided to put tegaserod but flag it just to be on the safe side. Thanks again for your assistance in digging Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life.
