Hi. My brother Rob (25) - lived in NY for the past 24 years (he now lives in TX

with me.) YES. It provides those services and they are actually quite helpful.

You pay state taxes which is why there isn't a waiting list. If you have a

need, those needs get paid for. You will have to be on top of your child's

needs and progress, but they provided a great deal for our family with very

minimal cost. (Rob is the 7th child in our family) Rob was diagnosed with

ASD/PDD-NOS at the age of 3 and maintained that diagnosis. When Rob was

transferred to TX, he had to get on a wait list (as we don't pay state income

tax here) -- and it's 10 years LONG.

We currently have to pay out of pocket for Rob's program and all his needs.

(WHICH SUCKS!)

So - YES, YES, YES. Apply, if you don't want to use it, you don't have to - but

it's an option, and it's relatively easy to get help. And we found that the

people who have worked in the NYS system know how to navigate the system.

could provide extra support. Is anyone using it? We have a OK private insurance

(BCBS). Some Rx from out DAN are not covered, I am wondering if Medicaid Waiver

is able to pick up some of the cost. Also, we do ABA at home, which is not

covered by insurance at all. Not sure if the vaiver program will help.

Yes i agree with , definitely do it! We lived in NY and had the waiver and my daughter received different services and case management to help guide you. We moved to NC and are going on 4 years waiting for services.
