Guest guest
Bonnie- I have to share our experience with the FM system at home. It's been less than 24 hours, but it's already amazing!! We shopped after the audio appt yesterday. I wore the unit in the car and in the store. Not once did I have to raise my voice or turn Aubrie's head to get her attention. She heard me all the time! I didn't realize how often I raise my voice, repeat myself, and get frustrated with her for not hearing. Must be a lot (I'm embarrassed to say) cuz I felt so relieved at not having to do it at all! This morning, her first request was Food Network with the FM system at the speaker. Wow! That tells you loads when a kid requests something like that. That said, she didn't notice when it wasn't working. The ON switch on the new aid is the opposite direction of the old one so I had the darn thing turned off. But-- I guess she just didn't know there was anything to hear. We'll have to work on that too. Michele W

Guest guest
Patty's speech is very very good. I even have trouble with s and ch. Kay Signing > I have to say Patty's speech is kind of fine. She is totally oral and has > been since she was a child. She has problems with ch, s, t.. and when we tell > her to focus she does better. She does sign now but I have to say signing is > better for her receptive language skills as well. If we had her sign is school > she might not have had such a problem filling in the blanks of what people > said by herself. A FM unit was used but it wasn't perfect. If there were sign > she wouldn't have had to work so hard mentally in figuring everything out. She > could have just moved onward easily like everyone else. > > The FM unit was only allowed IN SCHOOL-they wouldn't let us take it home. > > Bonnie. mom to a 21, Patty CHARGE 19, and wife to > > >
