" pressured " ? Your family history and reasons for having your baby

evaluated clearly warrant medical exemption. If the doc still refuses

to give it, fire him/her and find another one who would be more

considerate of your decisions.

You are the parent, and the decision whether to vaccinate or not is

yours. Think of your baby's longtime best interests, not of anyone

who tries to pressure you.

and I am being pressured about vaccinations. I have an older son

with a full blown diagnosis of autism, and the baby is being

evaluated later this month for something on the spectrum of a less

severe nature.

I think it is true. I have my pharmacy looking into getting the measles

vaccine from another manufacturer. The way I see it, if there is an

outbreak of measles or rubella we will have the opportunity to vaccinate

then. I had mumps and it wasn't a big deal. My oldest has autism and my

second has some sensory issues that make me think we dodged a bullet w/ her.

No way was I vaccinating my youngest too.

A friend of mine was trying to obtain the single shots of MMR for her

child a few weeks ago and another friend called Merck and was told

the single doses would be available again in 2003. So it appears

right now they aren't available.

I heard the opposite: that they are still available, but will be

discontinued in the near future. In any case, whenever speaking with

any of their reps, be sure to record their full name and position, to

hold them responsible in case they lied to you.

We were told by our pharmacy that they are unavailable at present and won't

be available until after the first of the year. The reason for this they

said is because of the shortages of other vaccines so they aren't making the

separate MMR until the other vaccines are caught up. Robin

Hi,

My daughter is 2 1/2 and has not had her MMR, I wanted to wait until

she was talking and I new for sure there was no sign of autism. She

is talking up a storm and more advanced than alot of 2 1/2 year olds

that I know, I think not giving the MMR has given her this

advantage. I'm feeling pressured about the MMR also, but I think I'm

going to wait till she enters Kindergarten.
