You make a very good point about how much one can learn from this list. I,

too, have learned a lot during my years of being associated with it, but

perhaps as importantly: I always feel like this group is here as a kind of

safety net for one another, and I love the feeling of security that gives.

No matter how many years of experience any of us has, the nature of medicine

means that we're always going to be learning. It's nice to know that we're

not all off individually struggling with acquiring new information.

I'll add my appreciation and thanks to everyone in this group. You all make

my life a lot easier - and a lot more interesting, as well.

just some appreciation for the group

I just wanted to say how happy I am to have all of you as my " cubicle

buddies " and TEACHERS. I don't post a lot of questions, but I sure learn a

lot from the questions and answers I read from others. Joining this group

is the most important thing I did for my MT career after completing my

course. I've learned a whole lot more from you guys even than from my own

experience transcribing for the past 11 months, and I just wanted to say

THANKS!!!

Ditto, um, cubed? <G> Even though, to date, I've only been doing my chiro

account, I follow along and take notes on really good stuff.

I start my training with Total E-med on Monday. My PC came today and I'll be

hooking it up as soon as my sweetie gets home to tame the cables. I had to chase

around to an electronics store today to buy a special switch and cables (NOT

cheap!) so I can keep my monitor, keyboard and mouse as-is, and share them with

both CPU's. Nifty set-up for one who's space-deprived.

Can't wait to get started with some new accounts. I told them where my

experience was what I like best, so I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get

pathology or ob/gyn.

, I've done the bit with the switch and cables and know what you mean about

it's not being cheap. Sure was nice to have only one monitor, keyboard and

mouse to use with two computers though. Also kind of nice to be able to switch

back and forth when the one only had work and nothing else. I could then check

e-mail on my own PC but still be doing work at the same time. It's better now

that the work computer has everything so I don't have to go back and forth.

Good luck with your new job. Let us know if we can help in any way. Margaret

Hi Margaret:

I can't say I know a WHOLE lot about monitors, but I do know a little. This

is my second TFT. My first was a Planar, and it was excellent, but although

it had built-in speakers, it didn't have a headphone jack. My boyfriend was

wanting a TFT monitor, so we worked out a deal where he took mine, and I got

another.

This one is an NEC MultiSync LCD 1550M, and I love everything about it. It

was reasonably priced as TFT monitors go - I got it at MicroCenter, and

after a $75 rebate it cost me around $425. I saw yesterday that one of the

PC magazines named this particular monitor its #1 best buy among monitors in

a round-up of equipment that it considered outstanding values.

I can't think of anything to add, but let me know if you have questions.

RE: just some appreciation for the group

Jayni, As I told , I have used one of these switches and cables in the

past and it worked out quite well for me. Hope you have the same luck with

it. It sure is nice to be able to use a really good monitor when working.

Back when I was doing it, the monitor I personally owned was much better

than the one they had given me for work, so that's what I used to. Since

then, they have upgraded and the work monitor is better. One of these days,

though, I am going to treat myself and get one of those TFT monitors. Just

haven't done that yet. What kind do you have and what would you recommend.

I have looked at a few, so I know there are certain numbers that are

supposed to be better (I guess that's the resolution). I think that would

really be a help. So give us everything you know about the monitors.

Thanks, Margaret

I'm a little slow responding, but did want to comment on this email.

I, too, feel so grateful day after day! When I'm really stumped and am

going through every reference book I have it's so nice to know that if I

just can't find that word I can always shoot an email to this group. Not

only is everyone so helpful, but the amount of collective KNOWLEDGE in

this group astounds me!!

So, I'll join the grateful train (not gravy train, grateful train

:-)....) and say THANKS as well!
