um, I can't seem to easily find the prior posts on this, but

my impression of what happened is that:

1. someone (presumably you, joannmrozinski) asked about where

to get plasma cysteine done, etc.

2. someone else commented on getting it done at local hospital

or lab.

3. Andy responded to comment #2, asking " are you sure this

was cysteine, not cystine " .

I don't know if this helps or not, but that is what I *think*

happened.

GSDL does a plasma cysteine test. They can do it all by itself.

(which cost around $50 about a year ago.) Or you can get some

panel that includes it. I don't know if other labs do it or not,

I just know that GSDL does. It is a blood test, so that is why

urine does not work. Different mediums (blood, urine) are

often used for different purposes, and show different things.

Plasma is a part of blood. The plasma cysteine is a fasting

test-- no food for 8 hours (I think) before the blood draw.

I took food with me so that I could eat afterward right away :)

best wishes,

Moria
