Guest guest
I think you've got it covered, . The only thing I see that's deficient is your food stuff list... you are gonna get awful bored with that limited selection. Let me recommend a variety of juices (non acidic mostly)... I loved a Pina Colada blend that was high in calcium .....I found I could not drink any sodas...just juices. I had to have Ice cream (just vanilla) which I melted and mixed my nasty liquid meds with in the syringe... lots of jello (just drank it as liquid before it's set). and a variety of creamed soups... I found pureed baby fruits to be real tasty...and baby instant oatmeal for when you get your appetite back...hah! you can thin most any thing for use in a syringe... I never used the zip & squeeze products though I heard so much about them... I got all my syringes at the hospital....I also got the sudafed & affrin & pain meds from the hospital... ask for ice packs to take home with you too. When is your surgery??? > > Folks, > > I've been putting together a supply list of things I'd like to pick > up before surgery, and I'm hoping some of you post-oppers can take a > look and let me know if I've missed anything: > > Food stuffs > ------------ > - chicken broth > - crushed ice > - Myoplex meals > - Whey Protein > - other foods according to taste > > > Medication > ---------- > - nose drops/decongestant (Affrin, Dimetapp, Liquid Sudafed) > - pain killers (Liquid Tylenol) > - vic's vaporub > - lip balm (Aquaphor) > - non-alcohol mouthwash > - oral gravol > - B12 (methylcobalamin w/folate) > > > From surgeon > ------------ > Chlorexidine Gluconate Oral Rinse > No liquid meds. Guest guest
Hello! Q-tips - since you can't blow your nose for 6 weeks. Beef broth - sometimes chicken broth doesn't blend as good with certain foods. Nice to have a choice. Ocean Saline Spray - this comes in different names but it's a salt-based nose spray. Not like Afrin or others with rebound effects. It simply breaks down any mucus that might collect in upper nose, throat. I used this all the time the first week. Tissues/paper towels for nose drips/drooling. Cheapy wash clothes for catching drips as you eat or for drooling. Liquid yogurt if you can find it. Drink one a day to help keep yeast infections at bay since you're on the antibiotics (which are known to breed yeast infections). My surgeon would not allow me to rent a suction device. He didn't want me to remove the natural hydration in my mouth -- says we produce a liter a day in saliva (yuck! But ask anyway if you feel you need it. Some surgeons allow it if you have other gunk in there (bleeding, etc.). I guess I was pretty clean after surgery and didn't have much to suction out. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Hi , Fortunately, my mom has taken it upon herself to prepare all of my meals for me. The only thing I need to worry about is eating enough to make room in the freezer before each of her re-supply visits. I love your suggestion about the Pina Colada though; I'd never have thought of that. And how in the world could I have forgotten to add ice cream! Thanks, -john p.s. Guest guest
Ooh..ooh. this is good stuff! Thank's. Guest guest
Ahem... knock-knock... hellooo... clearly you're unaware that you're talking to the Waterpik Master. However, I don't actually use a Waterpik model anymore - I burned out the original in about 7mths. I now use an Interplak unit made by Conair. -john > Oh my! How could I forget?? > > A WATERPIK! Guest guest
Sigh. I guess I'm the one to have to clarify this. Persons of both genders can indeed get yeast infections in " other places " -- including the armpits, skin folds anywhere, and the mouth. Do not ask me how I know this. Guest guest
, Ah, you assume I just meant " healthy " liquids, huh? I say any alcohol is ok to get through this ordeal ... just make sure it's after all the antibiotics and other meds are done. And if anyone gets prescribed that nasty liquid Cleocin, you deserve a good " drink " once you're done with that. I'll be done tomorrow! Counting the dosages. Irish! > What's that? Guest guest
Congrats on that, Irish! I hope I don't get prescribed that horrible stuff. I have two big gaps in my front teeth, so I'm going to beg to get pills of everything, instead of liquid, on the premise that I'll shove em in through those spaces. Think the docs will give in? > > > > > Just keep drinking! > > > > > > Irish!
