question about supplements

Hello, I am still very new to this group, but read as many messages

as possible. One caught my attention, because I have been having

supplement questions for a while now.

Are there supplements that are available to help with stimming

behaviors, and ones that can calm a very active 3 year old?

Also, could the stimming be a sign that he is deficient in some

supplement/nutrient? If so, how do I know what he is deficient in?

Would Kirkman supplements help?

Thanks for any advice.

Depends on what are the behaviors, and why your child does them.

Consider phenols first

http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm

Then yeast

http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm

Also consider adding magnesium.

Possibly, depending on the stim/reasons. Can also be a food

intolerance issue, metals, or other things.

Describe your child's stims and maybe I can give you ideas.

  • 1 year later...

The sulfur levels in my hair test was good to high so I thought

I was fine in that area. I don't understand what it means but

I recently found that one of my pathways needed support to

begin feeling better. I don't think the sulfer levels in the test

tells you much about the body's performance.

Anybody comment please.

My vitamin book says not to take zinc with coffee, brown bread,

dairy produts, especially milk, cheese, or other high-calcium foods.

Whole wheat flour has 6 times as much zinc as white flour.

I THINK THIS IS YEAST- TRY A SUPPLEMENT OF GARLIC- THAT WORKED WELL

FOR ME

I upped her

> zinc to 40 mg a day and havent seen any positive results. Should

I go up

> more. NO - FIGURE SOME OTHER THINGS OUT FIRST

She registered really low for zinc on the hair test, but her

> copper levels were good. Also I was reading about using ALA

when you have

ALA

My daughter registered high in sulfur on the hair test. I

which is

while

Ok last question. She registered barely over on lead

> and I will probably have to use DMSA to chelate for the lead.

Where do I

> get a good form of DMSA without a prescription??? THIS ANSWER IS

IN THE FILES OF THIS GROUP

I WOULD START SOME ENZYMES, AND READ THE PAPER ON LINE AT THE

CHILDRENS BIOMEDICAL CENTER ON UTAH inc (cbcutah.com)

CALLED " UNDERSANDING AUTISM " BY Jepson MD

THERE IS SO MUCH TO LEARN AND DO

You might have read my second post by now that I explained how

I discovered much of what I needed. I had a yeast problem for

over 15 years and killed off some of it but it never went away.

I have been on many of these message boards for the past 3

years learning allot. Other than group information and web searches,

newsletters and buying some books. Especially Andy's book

Amalgam Illness Diagnosis and Treatment. In his book he doesn't

just mention the need for certain supplements but he explains what

kinds of symptoms you might experience if you need this.

Also confusing is learning about liver phases. He describes some

of this in his book. It is very helpful as reference too.

Depending on what kind of amino acid you would like to take,

do a search on the net and type in your amino acid, for example:

'Taurine cofactors'. Check many of the sites and not just information

will come up on the cofactors but you should find sites that

explain the pathway and the job it does.

I have very few books that dig very deep into that information.

Have no charts either.
