Guest guest
So as far as the sleep goes, I'm screwed unless I stop the RT3 which I can't because I can't afford to wait till ferritin which I know can take a year or adrenals which can take forever are fixed. Either I slowly fix them all at once and live with this 3 to 5 hour sleep or I resign myself to not getting well enough to work or function for a year or more. I can't do that. I live alone, support myself, I can't afford to not function for a year or two. I guess I'll have to do the best I can on very little sleep. And stress dose on the HC. What else can I do? Do you have a different game plan? Thanks for all your help today. I know how busy you are. Guest guest
What about an over-the-counter sleeping pill until you can get some of your stuff corrected? I hate taking them, but sleep is my #1 priority (melatonin works OK for me, but I know you said it doesn't). Unisom is great. I hate the stuff that's in Benadryl (allergy med) that's also a sleep aid. Guest guest
Donna, I'm going trough a bit of the same at the moment, although I'm in my 7Th week on T3 only. I have been having very difficult time tolerating T3 because of low ferritin and bad adrenals.I was able to take just 2,3 mcg T3 and with more then that I could not sleep.I tried to raise my ferritin for a 3,4 months and nothing worked for me and now I'm on iron infusions.I went to 50mcg T3 last week and started having problems sleeping for the last few days ,so I'm back to 40mcg today and see if that will help.I went through a few of this periods during the 7 weeks. When I push up the T3 I would not sleep and then go back a bit on the T3 dose and that would help me to sleep. I thing our body is so sensitive with the increase of T3 that we have to play a lot up and down in every few days and then try again. If somebody would have told me I would be on the 40/45 mcg T3 7 weeks ago, I would not believe it. I had no tolerance for T3 at all, for year and a half. My maximum dose was 5mcg T3 .Besides the cortisol, the iron infusions are what are making a big difference. The main thing is to find iron supplement ,which works for you if any, because for me nothing worked.I think ,I have absorption problem.I know and Birrdy from this forum had success with chelated iron. I think was taking Carlson chelated iron and heme tablets. I know the amount should be at list 200,300mg per day,I'm not sure about the exact amount. Here is the link for Iherb.com where you can buy them. http://www.iherb.com/carlson-labs-chelated-iron-250-tablets/12940?at=0 Good luck Milena > > > > Many people with adrenal issues and lwo ferritn have sleep problems when > > they take ANY thyroid. > > > > -- > > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > > > http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ > > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ > > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ > > >

Guest guest
Do you mean 2 - 3 mcg. a dose with multiple doses or 2 -3 mcg. a day? Wow, you must be more sensitive than me. I'm on my 3rd kind of iron, all elemental, some chelated, now the liquid Florinex. It's supposed to be better absorbed than any pill according to a friend of mine who knows a lot about this kind of thing. The pill sounds like it has a lot and the Florinex sounds a lot less but evidently it works better. I was up to about 200 mg. a day on the pills, but with the liquid you supposedly need less. I'll see. I'm going to call my doctor and have my ferritin tested in a week or two just to see if I've made any progress after 6 weeks. I KNOW my adrenals are better. Not where they should be, but improving. I can tell by my anxiety level and that's pretty low. As for infusions, the only doctor around here that does it charges $900 for an initial office visit, no insurance accepted. I can't imagine what an infusion would cost. I checked out his site and called up and he's not a thyroid expert so I'm not going to waste money I don't have. He's more toxin elimination and sex hormones plus some massage, reiki, that kind of thing thrown in. As for sleeping, forget about over-the-counter as someone suggested. I thank her and appreciate the suggestion, but I am so past that. I have 30 mg. oxazepam, xanax, klonipin, nothing seems to work with the T3. Benedryl? This spring, before thyroid meds, I had a bad allergic reaction to an anti-depressant, lamactl - off label use. I was on 2 of the maximum strength benedryls 4 times a day and it didn't help me sleep or make me drowsy. As a matter of fact all it made me was spaced out, but not sleepy tired. I always have had sleep problems, but not like this. I began not sleeping with the first dose of 2.5 mcg X4, so that was 10. Now I'm at 5 mcg. X 5. I don't have any problem tolerating it and I feel better, less achey, more energy, better except for not sleeping. I was hoping my body would adjust and I still am hoping that will happen. I'm not going to back down or go off it. I won't raise, I'll just hold. I'm sorry you are going through this too. It's awful and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I know how this happened. I had multiple doses of big stress in the last 2 years and I'm the kind of person who loses appetite when stressed. So I went from a size 6 to a 2, 15 - 18 lbs in one year. Not easy to do when you are small. You know, starvation mode though unintentional on my part, makes people and animals create RT3 to slow down the metabolism. I'll deal with the not sleeping for a while longer. Than my body willl either adjust or I'll come up with something. But I have made up my mind that I am going to beat this, one way or the other and not in years but in months. I want to really thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, for listening to me and helping me. Knowing I'm not alone is a big help, otherwise my imagination would be going wild wondering what is wrong with me and then I'd really be super-stressed, thinking I had some House type undiagnosable except by a genius tv doctor disease. Guest guest
I'm taking a LOT of iron, around 200 mg. but I'm switching to Floridex which I'm told is much better absorbed and you need less and isn't constipating. Although if I take enough Vit C I can even that out to normal. I am taking HC with the T3 and I know my adrenals are improving. I can tell by how I feel when I get up in the morning which is the time I feel worst. I'm about a third to a half better when I wake up, even if I haven't slept well. I'm still not as bad in the AM as I was before the HC. So that says something. > > How much iron are you taking? It does nto take a year to bring it up, > but 2-3 mnths if on the right products. Guest guest
Thank you Val. This makes me feel better, believe it or not. I always blame my idiosycratic body and beat myself up for being different. This really helps. If it's something that happens under these circumstances, well then I'll just deal with it, keep working on my ferritin and adrenals and I will get better. I've made up my mind and that's the way it's gonna be. I'll probably still moan, complain, whine, and feel sorry for myself, every once in while, but it'll pass. I just hope you all can put up with me until then. LOL.
LOL.
