Guest guest
Hi Andy We recently started chelating our 3 year old son with DMSA given orally. He weighs about 38 pounds and we have been giving him 17mg of DMSA every four hours - three days on/four days off. We have completed three rounds of chelation and have seen marked improvements in eye contact, socialisation and interaction. We did a 24 hour urine test to check for output of metals on round two (messed up getting the sample on round one as our boy is not toilet trained). Have just got results back showing that there is no indication of him excreting metals in his urine. His hair test showed high levels of lead, tin, aluminium, antimony and applying the counting rules we think he has a mercury problem too. We are concerned about the lack of excretion of metals and cannot understand it given the improvements in our child. Would really appreciate your comments on this. Any possible explanation? Are we not giving enough DMSA? Is it possible the urine test is not sensitive enough to pick up metals? (the urine test was analysed at a local lab here in Australia - not at Great Smokies). Should we repeat the test? Thank you inadvance for your advice. We appreciate it. Alison
