Guest guest
When I originally read reports of this research it talked about using leptin *instead* of insulin, and I found it mind-boggling because I thought insulin was necessary for survival. Using it with lower doses of insulin makes much more sense to me! I am, however, always skeptical about research involving mice because I don't think they are that similar to humans. These mice don't have " real " type 1 diabetes, they are just " engineered " to not produce insulin. So I don't get excited about a potential treatment or cure until it begins to be studied in humans. Jen
