Guest guest
Hi Becky, and all, I had to create a new message since for some reason my response to the original thread kept bouncing. Anyway, below are my thoughts prompted by Becky's admission about poor lab reports, and another general comment. Suffice it to say, Becky, no matter what your numbers are (and we've all had bad lab reports!), the fact that you're here says you are part of a very small minority of diabetics who are interested in a level of management that most diabetics are not. That is, they may be interested, but they aren't interested in the effort it takes. Dave Visit: http://www.bardtalk.com and find answers to commonly asked questions concerning BARD. I know, I know practically all diabetic would want to have them, but the deception is not rreported here. I do a glr several times per day at least four and often six or even seven times. By doing frequent monitoring I discovered the following in less than two months, and mostly in a single month. My insulin requirements skyrocketed to what it is now. On December 1, 2009 my insulin to carb ratio was around 0.33 but now it is 0.50 My daily Lantus requirement in December was 50 units of Lantus each day, and now it is 64 units of Lantus each day, taken twice per day in 32 units per injection. It is just what is required to have good numbers reported above. I am now 70 years old, and I wonder if getting old has caused this jump in insulin requirements as well as a great lowering of the amount of carbs I ingest each day. Now for every two carbs I ingest I require 1 unit of Humalog to handle it within normal glr levels. Definitely not bragging here, Harry It is just the way it is with me.
