Guest guest
Oh, Dee, your FORMER physician must be related to my FORMER physician! Where do these idiots get their licenses? The easy way out? Oh, PLEASE!! This surgery is HARD WORK!! First there is the preparation with letters, psyche evals, physicals, pap smears and the wonderful INSURANCE HELL!! And then there is the lifetime commitment to taking large amounts of vitamins and exercise regularly? Plus we have to commit to long term follow up care with our doctors and abstain from alcohol! Not to mention the very real risk of the surgery itself!! Oh, yea...this was a decision we've all come to lightly! Sure, when I decided to do it I thought...yea...this is damn easy!! PLEASE!!! If your physician is anything like my former doctor, he didn't even take the time to look at Dr. R's patient education manual or learn anything about what's new in the medical profession regarding weight loss surgery. My former doctor told me it was unethical for Dr. Rutledge to do what he's doing. Here's a doctor who hasn't even visited the Internet to learn something new in his profession...talk about unethical! He also wanted me to try all these new " pills " too. I said no thanks! The cost is certainly way out in left field not to mention they don't know what this new stuff is going to do to us physically anymore than they knew what Phen-fen would cause. This new drug may be found in a year to cause some sort of weird cancer or something like that! I had to pay $15 to get copies of my medical records from this jerk too! And his office staff acted the entire time like they were doing me a favor! It's really irritating. Isn't this why we pay for office visits? Aren't those really MY medical records already? I would have been happy to take the stupid originals but, no, they couldn't do that either. I was just happy to walk out of there! No wonder it took me 14 years to find out about weight loss surgery. This quack surely wasn't going to educate me! Feel proud! You've made the best decision for your health and future. No doctor can treat you effectively unless you're both on the same playing field. Obviously, he isn't even in the ball game. Whew....now I feel better too. I guess you weren't the only one who needed to vent, huh? Thanks!!! Guest guest
Dee I am soo sorry for your visit!!! I am glad he is no longer your doctor!!! If I were you, I would send him copies of the reccomendations from the NIH, NIDDK, Bariatric Society, etc... and show that everyone of these national health organizaions reeomend obesity surgery for people with BMI's over 40!!!! No, on second thought, if you got the notes you needed from him, just forget about it and focus on the battle with your own insurance company....... Kathy Waiting....
