Guest guest
Hi all. I was SO busy yesterday, and exhausted! I began my day with getting up at 4:30am; going on the puter, drinking my coffee, followed by a 7 mile bike ride. Then after I got the kids fed and off to school, I treated myself with a manicure and pedicure down the road. I met Marti, my Pastor's wife at church, and she drove us down to the Rye Town Hilton for the WAMS (Women Against MS) luncheon, hosted by the NMSS. I was on the committee for it~there were about 10 of us in all. Before the lunch there was a silent auction on all sorts of things. Being on the committee, I was responsible for trying to get donations for the auction, as well as soliciting folks to put an ad in the program. My PT came, and she had put a biz card ad in. The lunch was SO good- a green salad, roll and butter to start, then-salmon AND chicken with wonderful, different sauces on each, with 1/2 potato and green beans cooked to perfection. The dessert was yummy--a fancy looking cupcake, vanilla, with a creamy vanilla icing, and a butterfly perched on top--I was SURE the thing was plastic--it was chocolate! then swirled on the plate, raspberry sauce with a tiny dollop of raspberry sorbet in a teeny tiny shell. Everything was not only delicious, but very artfully prepared! I was so surprised when they called each committee person by name;we stood quickly then sat down, and they brought a bouquet of flowers to each of us! The speakers were Dr. , who did a quick lesson on how MS takes place in the body--for all the folks who didn't have MS at the luncheon, or know much about it! Then he spoke on all the drugs; the trials being done, etc. Another doc from Acordia spoke, but I don't recall much about what he said--they were pretty much a co-sponsor of the event. The main speaker was Dr. Georgia Witkin--amazing and funny speaker. She spoke about Women and Stress--it was very, very good. I guess the most note-worthy thing she recommended was taking time to do some real slow breathing during the day. She said if we can start our day before even getting out of bed in the morning, once or twice during the day, and then again before retiring for the night--that it will help reduce stress levels by about 50%. She also talked about having fun and taking time to tell or listen to jokes, and the wonderful effects of laughter--the endorphins that are released in the body. I'll tell you, after this I was ready to drop! But I had to go home, welcome kids home from school, and then get 'reamed out' by my 7 year old son for forgetting to go shopping to buy him roller blades! Then I had to figure out what to make for dinner...wound up making grilled steak and chicken and couscous and mushrooms. Today, I pretty much have the day to myself, so I'm going to write up a resume and fax it out to a job I saw in the Pennysaver. It is M,W,F 9am to 2pm. The position says Receptionist/chiropractic assist. They are looking for someone dependable, organized and outgoing. Some computer skills necessary. Willing to train the right individual. It is fairly nearby, about 15 min. from my house. I was thinking about taking a couple of art classes on Monday and Friday, but this is more important--we could really use the extra income. It does not say how much it pays, but does say the job is perfect for Moms or College students. After that, I am going to get out and ride my bike for 2 or 3 hours, depending on my energy level. There is so much I want to do today--ever have a day like that? I want to pick a bunch of the basil we are growing and put up a batch of pesto--and bring some to my neuro! hope you all are having a super day. love, kate
