Guest guest
Hello, Our son has been on a strict SCD diet for a while (without any complex sugars) and also, on Diflucan for a month to help with his on-going yeast problem. However, he was never able to have the well-formed stools we were hoping for. About a week ago, upon our suggestion based on prior experience, his DAN prescribed an intestinal antibiotic (Vancocin) and the result has been amazing. In 24 hours, he started having formed stools, which has been continuing since then. There is also no foul smell in his BMs and he has been getting great sleep. It definitely seems like he is prone to developing infections in his gut and we are delighted about the response. His DAN prescribed Vancocin 250 mgs three times a day, for two weeks. At this point, we are concerned if two weeks would be enough to obtain permanent results. Did anyone have a similar experience, or have any suggestions for possible further treatments? Should we ask to continue with the antibiotic to kill any residual bacteria? And also, is there a plan that we could follow as long term antibiotic treatment with or without an anti-fungal? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Chet
