You know, getting older is the very pitts. (LOLLOLLOLLOL)

I am, however, glad we got this sorta streightened out. (LOL)

Perhaps I will give Harry Bates a call as you are correct, we have not had

any messages from him in quite some time.

I'm glad you remembered. I knew it wasn't Harry. Seems to me we haven't

heard from the other Harry lately. Perhaps he'll check in to let us know

he's ok.

why do they do it

Hey all,

Just got home from the Cleveland clinic where I had a gastric pace maker

put in to combat the gastro perisis. Now here is my question. Why do the

doctor's not listen to us when we tell them stuff? They asked me three

times what my basal rates were on my pump, which they made me turn off and

take off any how. I told them what they were and they did there own thing

with Lantis despite what I told them. Then they asked my carb to insulin

ratio and I told them 1 unit to 15 carbs, so what do they do, regardless of

how much I ate they only gave me 2 units of Humalog. So of course my sugars

were high the whole time I was in the hospital. At one point they wanted to

give me 4 units of Humalog for a sugar that was only 283, now I had told

them that 1 unit lowers my sugars by 70 mg/dl. Using those numbers I would

have dropped to well under 70 in no time if they had given me the full 4

units. I made them give me only 2 and the sugars came down to 136.

Just a word of advice to any one that may have to have insulin done

through an IV. Insulin given that way only lasts 20 minutes in the blood

stream before it is no longer active.

Sorry about the rant but need to vent to people that understand where I am

coming from.
