Guest guest
It's fine to give it to him. I know that in Italy and Greece (and possibly other continental countries) they give very young babies camomile - a few teaspoons when very small, sometimes with a little sugar. My 3month old had camomile when she was less than a week old - my mother's Italian! I always swear by camomile - it's one of the best remedies for an upset stomach and is really soothing. It's the one herbal tea that is considered safe for children. Even a few teaspoons have an amazing effect. I also read somewhere, can't remember where, that peppermint tea as well as camomile can help with colic in young babies. So, yes, go ahead and give it to him. The only thing I would recommend is not to give to him too strong (ie. don't brew for long), leave it a little more watery than you drink it - they still get the soothing effect, sometimes it works like magic! My MIL (she's Greek) told me that she used to mix the formula milk with camomile tea! I'd never heard of that before. Personally I drink gallons of the stuff - it's great for period pains too! Janet Subject: camomile tea Can anybody tell me whether there is any risk in giving camomile tea to a 18mth old. He loves my tea and tries to pinch it from me, it also makes him nice and sleepy and I would like to give it to him as a night-time drink, but wondered if he was a bit too young.
