Guest guest
Living in New England, we have plenty of snow days!! As we are hospital based, I have outpatient and acute care therapists who are all crosstrained to rehab. I can move people around within the system to make sure we are covered. We also have therapy services 7 days per week, and we keep a tracking log to record who did or did not have their 5 days. We then make sure those patients who did not get their hours during the week are scheduled for 3 hours on the weekend. We have had a few snow storms this year in which many of the therapists were not able to make it into work. The management team has been struggling with how best to prioritize patients so that they all meet the 3 hours, 5 days within 7 days. This is VERY trying and time consuming and frustrating. I would love to hear how other facilities are dealing with this. What do you base your priority list on? Do you add an extra day of therapy? Does Medicare understand that we have no control over the weather and will they accept any missed time due to inclement weather? Any suggestions/references/resources would be greatly appreciated!
