Guest guest
I'm not a doctor but if it were me, I would restart it.There are *many* DANs that think the dose you are on is sufficient. From my experience, 3x a day is better and most will find greater gains going to 3x a day but like I said, many DANs think 2x is fine. It's not exactly agreed upon and you'll find way more supporters here of 3x a day but if it's working and you're DAN only wants to Rx 2x a day, then I would go with it simply because it's just not agreed upon on proper dosing and people do find gains with 2x a day. You can ask your DAN if you can go up to 3x a day later. KWIM? Cheryl~http://www.gryffins-tail.blogspot.com~@midian42~ Hi again! I've posted several times in the past week about starting my son on a trial of Valtrex. Well, I read all the advice I received through my threads and decided that I should take my son off Valtrex after having him on a very low dose for less than a week (my son is 8 and was on 250 mg 2x/day. The main reason I took him of was because most comments said that he was on too low a dose and that he would become resistant to Valtrex. Well, we have been off for three days and now my son has an eczema like rash (never had one in his life) in the creases of his elbows and arm pits. Could this rash be a sign that the Valtrex, even at a very low dose, was working? What should I do? Confused, Dayna
Guest guest
I've never used Valtrex, however, my daughter used to get rashes under her armpits and in the creases of her elbows. She would get this (within 2 minutes of eating potatoes, carrots, apples, sometimes Rice and other grains) For her it was a severe nutritional deficiency. We tried lots of things. (I also think yeast had to do with it as well) -- For yeast we used Syntol and Candex. What seemed to work for us finally (and take care of the 'allergies' as well) - therapeutic doses of zinc, b12, EFA's (CLO, fermented), b1, b6, potassium and magnesium. We also started supplementing her with Lysine. I have wondered if when using these things (like Valtrex) if the nutritional needs are higher because it's 'fighting' the virus, thereby burning up the nutrients at a faster rate??? I don't know...I have yet to find something to explain in a way that I can understand and comprehend. But, she has had these rashes for about a year, and since doing this, and maintaining it, no rashes. Don't do epsom salt baths - it makes the rash worse, and it's extremely painful to them. I hope this helps... laura > > Hi again! I've posted several times in the past week about starting my son on a trial of Valtrex. Guest guest
Hi,I just have two quick questions:1. Is there a difference between CLO and regular fish oil? I ordered Kartner Fish Oil which seems like a good brand, but I wasn't sure if CLO is more beneficial. Also, this is the third time I have seen something about fermented CLO. Could you tell me more about this?2. This is the first time I have seen anything bad about epsom salts. Other than irritating already existing rashes, is there anything bad about epsom salt baths for kids? I am just trying to educate myself. I always thought these were beneficial for detoxing.Thanks!- Kirk-To: mb12 valtrex From: laurargoddin@...Date: Fri, 31 Dec 2010 02:44:03 +0000Subject: Re: Stopped Valtrex now has rash! Guest guest
Oh NO! I don't *think* epsom salt baths are 'bad' per say, I am saying she would scream in agony when I tried to give her a bath and she had the rashes... My son takes epsom salt baths nightly -- they work really well for him, and since her rashes are gone, she doesn't mind them. Yes, they are very detoxing (and great for your lawn too, who knew?) I don't know what the difference is between fish oil and CLO - I have just always read that CLO is better. That being said, I used to use Carlson's until someone said it had " soy " in it, then we tried coromega (good results that is fish oil, btw) -- but now we use Green Pastures CLO. (Mint is good)...and I have on hand the one with Butter oil too. I haven't tried it...yet. http://www.greenpasture.org/retail/?t=products laura > > > > > > Hi again! Guest guest
No, it just burns if there is opened skin from scratching and such. You're putting salt into a wound. That's all. Guest guest
1. Sorry, I can only tell you that I am very happy w/the results of Kirkman's CLO. My son uses the liquid and I use the gel cap. I get prickly skin on my arms if I don't. 2. As with just about anything, " low and slow is the way to go. " Some kids get jumpy w/too much, too soon. I can't speak to the rash/open skin/etc. > > > Hi, > > I just have two quick questions: > > 1. Is there a difference between CLO and regular fish oil?
