Guest guest
First of all...thanks Dave for getting me started and helping me get the digest format in place! My name is Joyce Cass Pratt and currently have a home in New Jersey...but live about 1 hour away in Stony Point, New York at a Presbyterian conference center as a volunteer. My hubby, , along with my guide dog Kia work at the registration desk, as well as many other projects. This is a small country type campus and is beautiful. I have RP(Retinitis Pigmentosa). Quit driving in 1993, my job in 1996 due to the vision loss. Hubby took a buy-out and we officially retired from AT & T. Worked for ourselves for several years and now we are volunteering in exchange for housing and food. The best part about this...I do NOT have to cook or do the dishes!!! Since I left my job, my creative side has come out in music and poetry. I love bowling, boating, writing, traveling and listening to 2-3 books a week usually...I use the Victor Reader. I have a very small bit of central vision which has enough acuity to use my PC without screen readers (YET), but have to have high contrast and large fonts...as well as a BIG pointer! I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes about 8-10 years ago and still take Metformin to control it. I use a Contour meter,,,which I can see the display if in the right lighting. I am trying to decided which meter I want to change to: 1. Bayer Disc Meter. Which has 10 " Strips " in one...so I won't have to keep changing them everyday...this appeals to me. I have not seen one in person, so not sure if the display is OK 2. Prodigy Talking Meter. Which explains itself. What do y'all think about the choice? I have been on here for a few weeks now and read a few postings, but overwhelmed with the volume and deleted a lot of message. Now that I am signed up for the digest...I can read them all!! Joyce Cass Pratt And KIA the wonder dog!
