Being positive/lifestyle changes

I feel being positive and having a wide variety of interests and hobbies

keeps me out of negativity. Having things to do that I like to do makes

me happy and motivates me to get up in the morning and do them. My house

is full of art projects, in different stages of 'creativity'. Also,

about lifestyle changes, well over the course of my life there have been

many, but the one most important one that I feel has had a significant

effect on my general wellbeing (and I am including CMT here) is the

change in diet. Nothing fried, no junk food, very little sugar, low fat,

etc. I know that must look pretty boring, but eating fresh and organic

when I can I feel really helps my overall sense of wellbeing.

Hi, Gretchen and all. Carolyn here.

I totally agree and that's the way my house is too. And I don't have

enough time to do all the things I would like to and that I enjoy

immensely. Usually I get up really early in the morning (like 5:00)

because that's my quiet time - nobody around wanting pieces of me, my

brain is fresh. I love it!

Lately, in order to get away from some life stresses, I've been

looking into some family history stuff and am having great fun at it.

I don't have to do this, I don't need to do it, but it's fun and

that's what I need to do right now. Have found some new cousins in

the process and now email with them, sharing our family stuff. Old

photos have been exchanged, etc. Just a joy! Very different from

anything I've done, too.

In spite of all life's stresses and problems, life is good. Someone

said, " It's a great life if you don't weaken... " or something like

that.

Regards, Carolyn

Health magazines, newspaper articles, TV, Internet, etc, all say what you

have expressed, diet is the answer. Now if I might borrow some or your will

power I shall give Arnold Schwarzenegger a run for his money.

These are fine, and healthy for anyone, but don't expect dramatic or

noticeable results. I've been taking lecithin for several years, " just

because, " but it hasn't changed anything.

Well-rounded healthy eating is vital. It's the combination of the various

elements that we really need, not one here and another there - all spaced out

in individual pills.

Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Grains. Some protein. Grains.

Foods have trace elements that work in combination when eaten. This can't

happen with pills that have just certain ingredients.

Someone once suggested Macrobiotcs at www.macrobiotics.com I have

been all through the site. I just don't know if I can switch my

eating

habits to be totally macrobiotic.

Someone once suggested Macrobiotcs at www.macrobiotics.com

Hi, Donna, Carolyn here.

Here are a couple of site references - one to Macrobiotics, the other

to Dr. Dean Ornish's plan (mostly veggie) on WebMd.com.

http://medicine.wustl.edu/~compmed/CAM_MAC.HTM

http://my.webmd.com/medcast_channel_toc/3075

For a number of reasons, mostly ethical, I find myself going more and

more vegetarian, but eggs and dairy products will remain, because I

like them! Again, that familiar word comes up: Balance!

Have a good day,

Carolyn

" I Quote " Lecithin is a component of a number of foods, and it is widely

attributed with certain positive effects on one's health.

Many of the positive effects of lecithin consumption are based on the fact

that lecithin is a major source of choline. Choline is a lipotropic substance

which functions in the body's metabolism as an agent that aids in the

digestion of fats. It is believed that choline helps the body to burn fat,

and thereby acts as agent supporting weight loss. As choline increases fat

metabolism it has been shown that it lowers blood cholesterol. As is commonly

known, a wide range of health problems are connected to blood cholesterol

levels deemed too high. High blood cholesterol leads to a congestion of blood

vessels and therefore is often an important factor in heart attacks and

strokes.

As it supports fat metabolism and has been shown to aid in bringing down high

blood cholesterol levels, lecithin can be considered a food component that

protects against heart attack and stroke.

PS: I think lecithin along with a balanced diet (Vit E, Vits B, etc)

certainly help us live and feel a lot better, but I'm not so sure how it

quells our cmt

Hello All,

I believe there is an answer to quell our disease with our diet. Someone once

Last year I spoke to a nutitionists before I knew I had CMT and described my

symptoms to her. She suggested Flax seed Oil and Lesithin.

Has anyone heard of this??
