Guest guest
Dylan had a tear duct probing of one eye when he was around a year, there was a duct it just tended to get clogged (Narrow and underdeveloped?). Guest guest
Hello Bruce, Kendra, like Dylan, also had a tear duct probing. Kendra's was when she was 3.5 years old. The same doctor found the colobomas that had been missed up until that time, too. It seems that maybe Aubrie had some tear duck issues also? I think you are very astute to call CHARGE multi-hypoplasia! ...Interesting and clever term. Guest guest
Bruce- Aubrie had several tear duct probes as an infant and finally had stents put in temporarily to enlarge the ducts. Now she doesn't have much of a problem. She used to have some chronic teariness, but never to the point of matting. In fact, I hadn't thought about it, but I think her teary eyes have improved dramatically this past year. Used to be an issue and I haven't noticed in a quite a while. Guest guest
Hi, Our daugher ( almost 20) had a blocked tear duct( by the nose) in her left eye at birth. Due to life threating stuff that had to be taken care of first the surgery had to wait. The first surgery was done at 13 mo. and it had to be redone at 20 mo. The drain was there but blocked solid. also was born with bilateral choanal atresia. The CA was corrected bilaterly with 3 extensive surgeries by the time she was 3 1/2. After the eye surgery at 20 mo. she didn't have eye problems again. It was a long time ago, but just wanted to let you know you aren't alone with the problem Lynn One More Problem! Punctal agenesis! Hi All, After almost seven years and thinking we had at least identified all we had to regarding Jaecky's list of problems we now have one more!! Punctal agenesis ( unformed tear drains causing watery eye). We of course knew of his watery eye as we had complained about it often enough and had been given drops etc for it, but THAT AIN'T MUCH USE IF THE TEAR DUCTS AIN'T THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!! (well 3 of the 4 are not there). I did a bit of a search to try to make up for my lack of reading lately on this list but didn't find anything on this topic from you, of late anyway, and so wish to raise it. Our professor of Ophthalmology had missed it for over 6 years!! So what's wrong with that?? What's wrong is that Jaecky's right eye is his 'good' eye, albeit lousy, and when the eyelash is dripping muck it wipes across his glasses' lens and wipes out what little vision he tries to use!! From our experience may we suggest that if your child has a watery eye don't back off until they have checked it out fully! Maybe it could be something akin to the urinary reflux issue and the need for a full check. Does anyone else have this problem? God bless, Bruce (who still thinks of Charge as multi hypoplasia (underdevelopment) -and now has one more feature to reinforce that opinion.)
