Guest guest
Hi all! My second attempt at goat yogurt also came out quite thin. So much so that the white is leaking through the tea towel when I drip it as well (not just the clear fluid.) Last time I used 1/2 scoop of CP starter to 2 qts. This time I used 1 scoop; it's the bigger scoop that comes with the starter, not the little probiotics scoop. I fermented at 100-110 for 24 hours, in my oven. I've just ordered the Yogourmet because I'm tired of tying up my oven with yogurt making and can't wait until it arrives! Any ideas? When I made nut yogurt with the CP starter, it came out really thick so I don't think it's the starter. Could it just be the nature of goat milk? I know the fat content is not as high as cow milk. It's sooooo expensive at Whole Foods; I'd like to find a local farm where maybe I could get it raw. I know that would help some. I was hoping to make " ice cream " for Sam's B-day party next weekend, but I just don't think this yogurt is going to cut it. Thanks! Chrystee Sam , 5 yo in 2 weeks!!!
