Hello everyone! I joined this group yesterday. My name is Kim, I'm 35, married for 18 years, have 2 kids (daughter age 17 and son age 10), I live near Houston, Texas, I'm 35 years old. My mother just died in August so I am still trying to get over that. I've been attempting to quit smoking for 2 years, and still not quit, but I'm going to start a new quit tonight. In the 2 years I have gained 60 pounds. I've never been this heavy before. I'm short and small boned. I only weighed 109 when I put on all this weight, so you can imagine how disgusted I am with myself. As I said I'm going to attempt to quit smoking tonight, and in a few days when I get that under way, I'm going to start a diet and exercise program. I have never did any dieting programs such as weight watchers. What I do when I diet is eat healthier, and also eat what I want in much smaller quantities - I've lost weight that way in the past. I will however switch from regular Dr Pepper to Diet. I've been a member of our city's recreational center where they have a full fitness facility. I am only able to work out tho when I'm not smoking, which makes sense - if you can't breathe good, how can you have a good beneficial workout? I was driving a few days ago and realized that we have another workout facility just down the road from my neighborhood. It is called Curves and I believe it is for women only. I'm going to call them tomorrow and find out what they have to offer. I'd much rather take a 5 minute drive to Curves than a 20 minute drive to the rec. center. Anyway, that is all I know to say at the moment. Is anyone else on this list a recovering smoker?

*KIM*

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
