Guest guest
Our son was diagnosed at 23 months with autism. We suspected he had autism when he was approx 18 months because of the many sings he was showing. We inmeditately put him on the GFCF diet which improved his behavior and eye contact. Recently he had an organic microbial test which indicated yeast & bateria overgrowth (Candida). Our DAN doctor (who recently became DAN doctor) reccomended Nystatin 2 times a day for 7 days. Our son seemed to get better in language, but seems to have regressed in the last days (he has been off the medicine for 2 weeks) Since taking this medication he started to repeat the last word of a given sentence. We are interested in trying the combination of Valtrx & Dyflucan. However, we feel our DAN doctor is inexperienced and was not familiar with these antiviral comprehensive treatment. Does anybody know the right dosage for our son based on his weight and age? He is 25 months - 27 pounds. Is the dosage low at first and then increased after the first round? If so, when do you increase the dosage? How often is it reccomended that you test for kidney/liver function? If by chance, anyone knows of a website where we can find the answer to these questions, it will be appreciated.

We are on week two, going into week 3. We are experiencing serious die-off, and I just posted a question with hopes that an experienced parent could assist me with. However, Our DAN doctor had never used anti viral protocol with children with autism before either, but I went armed with Stan Kurtz info in hand and insisted we try this approach with my son. I sat on the prescription for a few months, because I am not big into pharmaceuticals, but I think we are onto something by the symptoms that my son is exhibiting. There is alot of info on the website stopcallingitautism.com and by finding Stan Kurtz article on the protocol he used with his son. We started with 1/4 caplet 3x day for the first week, and then on week two 1/2 caplet 3x day for the duration of the treatment. We will be beginning the Diflucan shortly. We just did not want him to have 2 die off reactions at one time. I found the website that I mentioned to you to be most helpful and all of Stan's info too. Even though your DAN has not done antiviral therapy on any others does not mean that with your research and his medical experience that you have to go elsewhere. I have found that our DAN doctor is the only one that really listens and feels that our instinct as parents can lead us to more answers and possible recovery. I wish you the best of luck and if you decide to take this route, we can share our experiences if you wish. I have learned so much from the parents and continue to reach out to expand my knowledge from the more " seasoned " parents in our community. Guest guest
Sorry for the short reply, had to run out of the house. Thanks for sharing your story about your experience with your DAN! doctor. My husband printed out the article published by Stan Kurtz were he goes over the Comprehensive Antiviral Treatment and she seemed apprehensive about the Valtrex but I think we can get her on board especially since we plan on testing his liver every 6 to 8 weeks. We will be happy to share our experience with you, do plan on starting him on the protocol in about a month. Thank you for the website. Wish you and your son the best. > > > > > > Our son was diagnosed at 23 months with autism. We suspected he had autism when he was approx 18 months because of the many sings he was showing. Guest guest
Yes. He is already on the valtrex. We are seeing die off. We are going to start diflucan within the next few weeks. I have an appt this month with our DAN doctor and will ask him to do the necessary bloodwork. I want an immune panel done on my child so that we can track the viral load and see how the valtrex is managing it. We will also follow the yeast as well. I am consulting a clinic in NY that specializes in immune dysfunction (recommended by a friend who has recovered her child) and going to see if they will work with our DAN on this. Keep me posted about your little boy. I hope that we can all find recovery for our children. God Bless. > > > > > > > > Our son was diagnosed at 23 months with autism. Guest guest
Since these are prescription meds, you will need a script from your doc. You should call him and give him your reasons for wanting to change meds. Guest guest
Since these are prescription meds, you will need a script from your doc. You should call him and give him your reasons for wanting to change meds. If he follows DAN! protocol he will understand.nancy jSubject: Is Valtrex & Dyflucan safe for a 27 pound, 25 month old child? To: mb12 valtrex Date: Sunday, May 2, 2010, 2:03 PM Our son was diagnosed at 23 months with autism. We suspected he had autism when he was approx 18 months because of the many sings he was showing. We immediately put him on the GFCF diet which improved his behavior and eye contact. Recently he had an organic microbial test which indicated yeast & bateria overgrowth (Candida). Our DAN doctor (who recently became a DAN doctor) reccomended Nystatin 2 times a day for 7 days. Our son's language seemed to improve after taking nystatin but seems to have regressed in the last days (he has been off the medicine for 2 weeks) Since taking this medication he started to repeat the last word he hears. We are interested in trying the combination of Valtrx & Dyflucan. However, we feel our DAN doctor is inexperienced and was not familiar with this antiviral comprehensive treatment. Does anybody know the right dosage for our son based on his weight and age? He is 25 months - 27 pounds. Is the dosage low at first and then increased after the first round? If so, when do you increase the dosage? How often is it reccomended that you test for kidney/liver function? If by chance, anyone knows of a website where we can find the answer to these questions, or has any answers for us it would be eternally appreciated. Guest guest
Which clinic in ny are you using? Thanks. Re: Is Valtrex & Dyflucan safe for a 27 pound, 25 month old child? I found the website that I mentioned to yo u to be most helpful and all of Stan's info too. I have learned so much from the parents and continue to reach out to expand my knowledge from the more "seasoned" parents in our community. > > > > > >
