Guest guest
I knew that lemon juice would clear away the onion odor from your hands when you've been playing with onions.. I would never have considered it as an safe drain opener.. but thinking about it now.. it sure would.. it would cut the grease being acidic in nature... I think we need to start a "Helpful Hints from Handicappers"... just like there used to be a "Helpful Hints from Heloise" thing going... lol... we could include all the things that we find helpful for us.. that aren't necessairly the high dollar items.. but help us get things done a little easier.. and maybe more efficiently... |}onna P.S. I'm just all kinds of full of ideas these past couple of days... maybe it was the two inches of fat I lost (or seemed to have lost) around my waist... it went to my head???? LOL Re: Rain... Val, don't worry about us thinking about your cleaning habits it happens to the best of us. I am a clean freak and had the same thing happen to me in my 20's (pre MS). I also lived in one of those great little trailors and cleaned dilligently everyday and still had a few mushrooms grow in the floor crease right next to the toliet. Bleach and other cleaners are by choice my defence and still had a few grow. I know what you are saying when it happens to you. I am a very clean person and scrubbed the floor tile right off, if I thought it would of made the difference. I hope you hear from them soon, Love to all. Guest guest
Lemon also works great for stained hands. For some reason anymore, when I'm working with some fruits or veggies, my hands stain. Apples, potatoes, bananas... lots of them. The stains can be anything from grayish to purplish and it's never pretty. lol A little lemon and it's all better (just like the old trickt o rub lemon on dirty elbows?). It works great on rust and scale in sinks, too. When faucets begin to clog (such as shower heads and whatnot?), a little lemon and/or vinegar to soak and it's all better again. Lemon also "bleaches" dishes and stains on clothing. Challis|}onna wrote: I knew that lemon juice would clear away the onion odor from your hands when you've been playing with onions.. There's no way that a "clean" person could ever have something like that growing in her house. Well, on the contrary. I am as clean as I possibly can be under the circumstances. And disgusted??? That's not even the word for it. I got a little miffed at DH. Before I had a chance to do anything, he was in there faster that Flash Gordon himself getting the ugly bugger and destroying it. I wanted to take a picture of it, so I could add it to my proof that I'm gathering. Oh well, if there was one, there's surely going to be more. We still haven't heard anything from craigslist.org. Guest guest
I think that lemon is also part of either making ink disappear or making it reappear after using the disappearing ink... Can't remember which... It's a shame that the little beasties are around 50 cents each up here in Pennsylvania... and they were that way during the summer months.. can't see what they cost come winter... 101 Uses for a Lemon......................... http://www.electriclemon.co.uk/101/index.htm |}onna Re: Rain... Guest guest
Thats one thing the people that owned the house before us made sure we knew, they used Rid-X every month and ask that I continue using it cause she always used belach to clean and clean the drains....killing all the "good grems" We have been here a little more then 2 months and put it in once. My BIL had a septic tank sevrvice for 40some years, so I asked my sister since she did know almost as much as him. She said if I used bleach to clean to use the Rid-X every month, but if I used only natural cleaners (Vinegar) that I could skip a few months and stay on trak maybe once every 4 months. If I started to have problems that maybe using Rid-X every month for a few months. I told her about the flushing for solid waste taking 3 times flush to get it down she said that the pressure was the problem not the septic tank......Thanks for all the info, lots to learn here. Love to all, Re: Rain... Val, don't worry about us thinking about your cleaning habits it happens to the best of us. I am a clean freak and had the same thing happen to me in my 20's (pre MS). Guest guest
Thanks Donna, I have heard about the yeast but I use the Rid-X. I know about the getting things out of the bowl before you flush it....lived with my BIL and sister for a few years back in the day. Their kids were the worse for going poop and dropping things I remember seeing my BIL more than elbow deep in a mess and then some. Not a pretty sight to see an man over 400lbs sitting on the floor of the bathroom cursing at the top of his lungs cause he can't reach that barrett. He passed about 7 years ago sure do miss him.
