One local firefighter saves lives for a living, but now he needs your help to

save his. The Colbert and Cartwright volunteer firefighter just found out he has

stage two Hodgkin's lymphoma.

KTEN's Noelle Newton met with him Saturday and has the story.

Horn was in a car wreck two months ago. While doctors were evaluating

him, they discovered he had cancer. Saturday, family and friends joined together

in a benefit to help the 22-year-old pay for treatment.

Horn loves his community. It's been hard on him not to work as much now

that he's taking chemotherapy.

" At first I didn't think about it. I thought I'd just go on but you try, but

chemo slows you down a lot. I just do the best I can day to day. "

The news of Horn's cancer is hard on the whole family.

" It took a while before it hit. You expect it to be somebody else and now its us

that needs help, " Bill Horn, 's dad.

Saturday's barbecue benefit raised 28-hundred dollars and the Colbert Masonic

Lodge, the event sponsors, are going to match that price

" I'd like to thank everyone that came out today for supporting me. Thank you

very much. I'll be back to fighting fires and supporting ya'll and helping ya'll

whatever way I can as soon as I get done. "

Doctors have planned six months of chemo and radiation. Treatment Horn's

insurance doesn't fully cover. In the meantime, the family of this brave

firefighter remains focused on extinguishing his disease.

" We're optimistic right now. We think we're going to beat it, but you have to

face reality. We might not, " Bill Horn, 's dad.

If you would like to make a donation to the family, send money to Horn

at 478 Wren Road Colbert, Oklahoma 74733.

The Horn family hopes to set up a bank account in 's name. KTEN will let

you know those details as soon as they become available
