Guest guest
Hi. I am thinking myself of getting Culturelle. My son's OAT test shows elevated Clostridia (bacteria) marker and Culturelle might help with it. So depending on what you are trying to achieve, you choose specific probiotic accordingly. Hope this helps. Dovile Subject: CulturelleTo: mb12 valtrex Date: Tuesday, December 14, 2010, 5:45 AM Sorry to beat a dead horse here and keep asking about these probiotics. I'm just trying to figure out the best one to give my 3 year olds. I don't want to do custom right now b/c I'd like to start out with something that is not quite that strong (just for now). I ordered dairy-free Culturelle last night. Have any of you had any experiences with this? Does it matter that it doesn't have multiple strains? I just want to find the best supps and start this whole process. Thanks in advance for any opinions on Culturelle (or any other probiotics). I appreciate it! Guest guest
We're trying to help with malabsorbtion/inflammation in her gut. I think she has leaky gut. I have to have another consult with the DAN to better understand what's going on. So, based on what we need it for, how would I know which probiotic helps with that? I would assume the DAN would know, but she wants us to do Kirkman which has strep (she doesn't buy into the strep issue at all) so I kind of feel like I have to find one on my own. I'm hoping Culturelle will show some results.- Kirk-To: mb12 valtrex From: firk87@...Date: Tue, 14 Dec 2010 08:48:29 -0800Subject: Re: Culturelle Hi. I am thinking myself of getting Culturelle. Guest guest
it depends on the WHY you have leaky gut, things like glutamine can help heal the IGA lining, removing IGG issues help, killing of yeat and bacteria in the gut and parasites stripping the body on nutrients ect From: melissa bosler Sent: Tuesday, December 14, 2010 12:42 PM To: mb12 valtrex Subject: RE: Culturelle We're trying to help with malabsorbtion/inflammation in her gut. Guest guest
I am in the same boat as you are. Even though we are using DAN doctor, sometimes I feel I have to do my own research. And if I decide to buy Culterelle, it will be because I am doing my research, not because our DAN told us to use it. My son most likely has leaky gut as well and lots of food allergies and sensitivies. Our DAN doesn't buy into the strep issue at all as well. ) Here is a link about probiotics, may be it will be helpful. It was for me. http://autismsupplementscenter.com/supplements/supplements-a-l/culturelle-lactobacillus/ Dovile Subject: CulturelleTo: mb12 valtrex Date: Tuesday, December 14, 2010, 5:45 AM Sorry to beat a dead horse here and keep asking about these probiotics. Guest guest
Not to confuse you more but Culturelle is grown on whey and has traces of it, it is dairy free but not casien free. My son would wake in the night screaming on it. He has clostidia too and the same probiotic in Culturelle is in Kirkman's Pro-culture probioic, without the strep strain. Some people love Culturelle though... just make sure if you notiuce waking at night you take him off it. Good luck! Guest guest
Thanks. That's lovely isn't it? This stuff is so frustrating! She tested positive for antibodies against casein so I'm guessing I should keep looking. Someone had suggested Jarro-dophilus which is strep-free and has an allergen-free version that seems good. Although it says dairy-free not casein free so I guess I better call to verify. Thanks for the info. Guest guest
Thanks! Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is clostridia? - Kirk-To: mb12 valtrex From: ruch_tina@...Date: Wed, 15 Dec 2010 06:25:32 -0800Subject: Culturelle Culturelle has a patented strained of lactobacillus GG that lines the intestines better than other forms of this particular strain of probiotic. It works well against clostridia and candida. You may also want to try try with this a product called Good Belly. It is a juice probiotic that is gluten and dairy free. It is high in lactobacillus plantarum299v. This strain works in getting rid of an overgrowth of clostridia. It can be found in many supermarkets, Wegman's Whole Foods, and Health Food Stores. You can purchase it online also. A plus, it tastes great and comes in several flavors. Also, when you get a probiotic from a food source it tends to work better. The combination of the two should work well for you. You could also try making some coconut water kefir. This will have many strains of different probiotics in it. Some people find benefit of changing their probiotics monthly, others do not need to do this. Just remember it may take a few months to get rid of clostridia. You also have to keep the sugar content in your child's diet very low. This will get rid of the problem faster.
