We were told by our DAN doctor to go in 3-4x per week at around 140 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. I would like to know what others are doing also. In reality we probably go 3x per week at 138 degrees for about 30 minutes. We take in lots of water, and I find it's a great opportunity to work on speech therapy with my child,

Can anyone please guide us as to what protocol should be followed for FIR sauna? What duration and at what frequency it should be done?Thanksrsguron

I do 105-110 with my boy for about 20 min, followed by a short shower and epsom

salt bath. The FIR is supposed to release toxins that are stored in the fat

cells. So, it's probably a good idea to establish what works for the child in

terms of the body burden.

I'll give 140 a try - never thought of going that high.

Rsguron,

The above program may be much too aggressive initially. The 3-4X per week is OK,

but the temperature and the duration are towards the extreme side as FIR saunas

go, and are especially inappropriate for beginners, especially children.

The age of your child is a factor as pre-pubescent children's thermoregulatory

control is not fully mature, making these parameters all the more excessive.

If, on the other hand, the sauna contains carbon heaters, higher temperatures

may be justified because the level of infrared exposure is usually weaker than

in most other FIR saunas. If your child tends to sit well away from the heaters,

this could also justify higher temperatures.

If you'll email me privately, I'll send you our regime for kids and a brief

article on the subject I've written. If the sauna is indeed carbon-heated, you

could start towards the end of our weekly progress chart.

It's best to start slowly and build-up gradually to be on the safe side.
